Possibly against my better judgement I got up early and jumped in my 964 cabriolet and drove from Sevenoaks to Croydon to watch some really old cars.
Ended up having nothing but admiration for the intrepid participants in torrential rain.
Gave up when rain really started dripping into car at joint between hood, screen and quarter light!
On way home driving conditions on M25 were terrible - saw a Mercedes which had aquaplaned on its own off the motorway!

Always sad when the weather is bad for the L & B run. I do admire their perseverance though, especially since some of the cars are not too reliable either.

At the weekend I drove my dearly departed dad's old 70's Rolls Royce to Somerset and back, its first drive for about 4 years!

Despite spending a week checking it, rebuilding the carbs, tuning it, a mechanic driving it (Me) and it driving faultlessly, I still spent the entire jouney in each direction completely "packing my pants" preying that if/when it broke down, it would do it somewhere that I could pull off of the road and not cause a tailback.

Therefore I have an amazing degree of admiration for anyone that does the London to Brighton run in anything but a modern car, especially some of the pre war cars which defy engineering logic that they run at all!!
