Ok so have got it down to 2 very cheap cars and need to decide asap so feel free to gimme your thoughts please!

Car 1 is a known to me 1990 964 C2 grey Tip coupe good history know the last owner well. 160k with rebuild

Car 2 is a 1999 996 C4 tip cabrio in blue 120k and not known to me just spoken to it off an advert on the net.

both cars are sub 10k

owned a c2 targa but never a 996, use it pretty much daily and its left outside, my head is telling me 964 coupe as the long term bet, and the 996 for the fact they are sooo cheap at the moment.

cheers

The 996 will serve you better as a daily driver, the 964 will be more fun to drive. :D

Servicing costs on the 964 are much higher than the 996. Using it daily this would influence me.I believe that there is some level of dismantling on a 964 to do things like a plug change, also the 964 is 6k service intervals the 996 is 12K.

The 964 is where my heart is but I'd would be not great in the commute so I'm leaning towards the 996 c4 tip cabrio....

ok so on the driveway is.........

a Slate Grey 964 Carrera 2 Tiptronic Coupe :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
the tip makes the car surprisingly usable and i used my 964 targa manual every single day and the 944 turbo so the new coupe is not in for an easy ride but will be used and enjoyed most days :bounce: :bounce:

Just need to shift the 944 Turbo now, or not

Very brave decision as a daily driver, although the tip will make the car easier for your application, blimey think I had better lay down, this is about the only time I have supported a tip in a 911   much nicer car though IMHO

Yes indeed, same here always had manual cars and would never have considered a tip in a 964 but it really works! Simple as that, thise that haven't tried one are missing a trick. These cars are 20+ so I always drive my manual 964 with respect and gently, the tip encourages you to enjoy the aircooled engine in a different way, and you can't over rev.
Even had a my twitter account running for the daily antics of my last 964 so will pick up again!

My car is 16 years old also, but I forget that when behind the wheel, because the car is so willing , don't use it as a daily driver though :)

Sure this has been asked hundreds of times but is there a guide as to what other wheels I can put on a 964 ideally cups or twists? Any ideas greatly received thanks
(excuse the typos no laptop the last few days so it's been iPhone only)
Cheers
