I use their Camcorder Suction Mount (product SM1) and it works very well.

I agree, DVD camcorders are great for simple family moments where you want to be able to view the thing right away. If you want to do any non-linear editing then solid state or HDD are the way to go. I prefer solid state as I can carry multiple media about without having to download to a computer. These days I would also seriously consider a HD recorder - I know that Blu-ray burners are way too expensive at the moment but at least you are capturing the raw footage in high definition. Yes HD takes up more space on your computer hard drive but external drives are dirt cheap now.

Hi thanks for the info the suction mounts are just what we are looking for, however sourcing a recorder is proving more difficult Sony was the first choice but Sony don't recommend the home cameras as they have antivibration sensors and supposedly shut down if shaken!

Cheers

I was reading a similar thread about this..

These guys do some kit http://www.elmo.co.jp/suv-cam/en/index.html

With reference to the Sony or any camera in fact, go CCD and you shuold be fine, CMOS has issues with road vibration..
