On our way to Poole on Friday afternoon in the '44 when I hit something in the outside lane of the M5 near J3. There was a loud bang and the rear of the car "twitched" as clouds of smoke went up behind accompanied by a tremendous stench of burning rubber

This was my nearly new Conti Sport N1 tyre when I took it off the car:

Ouch.... looks like it impacted something sharp. Is their any wheel damage?

New tyre come Tuesday which will hurt the bank balance.

Can you not get one of them aerosol thingies that you just pop on to your valve, it seals the damage, inflates your tyre for you and is good to go as long as you keep the speed below 30mph............

I'd try that if I were you Paul.

I've had 2 punctures on low profile tyres, both I didn't realise until I was flashed & told in one case & slowed down for the other. The very stiff side walls on low profile performance tyres mean they stay held up until you either try going around a corner or slow down.
