A friend of my daughter (who is a mini nut) built a front engined V8 mini which he called Doris. If you scroll down the page on the link, there is a picture of it.

When I went in it, it was still in the early stage of engineering and the torque at full chat (see what I did there?) flexed the steering so that the front wheels toed out on full acceleration.

He mated a Rover V8 engine to a Princess gearbox. The whole roof panel lifted off for that convertible feel (he had a big roll cage in it).

Don't you just love these shed built rockets!!

I love all of these although a died in the wool GT car fan, I'd prefer a 917 over a GT40 but would tolerate either

The RV8 front engined Mini I remember reading an article about & it was done with very limited machine tools. Just seen details of Doris here:- http://www.spagweb.com/v8mini/doris/index.htm

"The Roughest V8Mini Deathtrap In The World".
Having been for a ride in it, I can vouch that this is an accurate description of Doris. I think the Pie Van was somewhat better engineered, although I never got to see it finished.
