Dark Nights drawing in and Track outings over (Donnington DPRAC last Sunday 2 Tipec members in 944's a great day out. Porsche 997 Turbo (Oct), Ferrari F430 & Lambo Gallardo at Prestwold in Sept recent memories courtesy of Tesco Vouchers) + of course the drives there in the Turbo :D

Need for some Speed over the winter (even if its only from the couch!)

My Daughter has just bought an XBOX 360 package Just Dance etc but just happened to have Forza4 included  so I am seeking help for recommendations of a few driving/simulation games, (? any with British tracks similar to TOCA 2 on old PS2?) I have searched on XBOX 360 but no postings this year so can anyone help on this (ps I purchased the Microsoft Wireless speed wheel with the package after a demo at the Game shop)
TIA
Clive

Clive I've got Grid which I like or try Need For Speed Shift 2 which is supposed to be really good simulation. F1 has also just come out. Want some Porsches then Need For Speed Hot Pursuit is a good arcade style game with loads of porsches in along with the older classic NFS Most Wanted and Carbon. Another arcade style over the top power sliding game was Split Second and Blur and I have Colin Macrae Dirt 2 but Dirt 3 has just come out which is also supposed to be really good. If you want to just drive around in a virtual world with the odd race and mission then you have the classic Test Drive Unlimited and TDU2 just come out this year which is what I'm playing mostly at the moment and Midnight Club LA is quite good for a blast along with the Burnout series like Paradise City, soundtrack is great. Don't think there will be many British tracks in that lot but I tend to be into the open universe type of play. Forza 4 is spectacular as you know but try the older Forza's for some different tracks and cars. I take it you've got the Kinect system if you have Just Dance so when you're bored of driving download Fruit Ninja from Xbox Live and get slicing them fruit, HI YAAHHHH
Send me a friend request if you're on Live, my gamertag is BooooSTed GTR

Many thanks for the lowdown Andy, reading the posts from last year I thought you might come up trumps :) It's certainly given me a shortlist for the next visit to Game.
Just getting started into Forza 4 (very impressed), looks to be plenty on the 2discs/HDD for me at the moment, may try online later, thanks for the invite and all the info.
(I guess I should use a gamer tag something like "HiTorq951" or similar  )

Make sure you have a loyalty card from Game, the points soon rack up and you get some good bonus deals throughout the year. Game station also has the Elite loyalty card. Good gamertag, you should go with that. Just got Driver San Fransisco today so will be giving that a try this week, good old 1970s car chase over the top action :D Think I've dislacated my shoulder playing Fruit Ninja today against my youngest daughter (she's 8 and slaughtered me  ) She's off to bed now so I'll sneak some extra practise in this evening
I just don't seem to be able to get into the Forza series, i can't be bothered to do all the setting up that's involved to get the most out of the game but there is a large community of followers out there.

Happy gaming Clive and see you online

Forza 4 is the big one. Just starting to get to grips with it myself.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit was a lot of fun as a more arcadey experience - basically playing cops and robbers in a variety of supercars.

+1 for forza 4, im hooked :) the only downer is no porsches (other than RUFs), although its rumoured they will be released as a download pack in January. If you get reasonably serious in online racing its worth joining a club for private races as public ones are very shunty.

Aside from forza there's Race Pro - probably the most simulation-like game on the xbox, graphics lack a bit of polish but it has good feel, a range of racing classes and good selection of european tracks. Spa is available as part of a download pack for a few quid.

I'd also recommend the first 'Dirt' game for a rally experience, not impressed by the second.

The F1 Game isnt bad either for track selection, I picked up the 2010 season version cheap.

If you prefer the arcadey type games then 'project gotham racing' 3 & 4 are pretty good, plus Race Driver; Grid (from the same company that did TOCA).

Unfortunately theres nothing that has a wide selection of UK tracks on the xbox, you need a PC for that.

Right chaps, now seriously hooked on Forza4. (Got Race pro £6 Dirt3 & NFS Undercover to keep me occupied)
Have progressed from Easy, Medium, Hard, now on Advanced so I can use Manual gear Change but am having difficulties with the wireless speed wheel (lack of all the buttons) which keeps screwing up from using up & down on D pad for Gear changes to displaying different HUD leaving me stuck in 1st Gear! Very frustrating.

Looking at getting a Proper Force Feedback Wheel & Pedal arrangement - What can you seasoned gamers recommend, lots on e-bay at present so am being tempted to put some bids in.
TIA
Clive

Never got on with the steering wheels, had the official xbox one which I believe is now discontinued anyway but wasn't patient enough to set it up for each game and it needed to be bolted down securely for best results. Thread I ran couple of years ago may give some ideas and check out the Fanatec site for some official Porsche wheels! http://www.fanatec.com/

fanatec if the budget allows, or a 2nd hand m$ wheel if it doesn't. the cheap ones without force feedback aren't worth bothering with. beware those that say feedback when its just rumble.

Exactly what he said! ^^^

Fanatec wheels are the bees knees if you can spare that much cash. Otherwise look for a good condition second hand Microsoft wheel. That’s what I use.

Thanks for the wheel pointers guys, been watching e-bay for Genuine X-box ones, plenty on but SILLY money 5 went for over £120 with one fetching £160, (broken ones/parts missing fetching £65 :x ) think I'll start saving for the Fanatec Forza Motorsport CSR or keep a lookout for a 2nd hand GT2 as in Andys picture :)

Blimey no wonder my wheel was snapped up within minutes when I put it up for sale for £50quid at beginning of year  Gamestation didn't even want to look at it when I asked if I could trade it in. Those Porsche ones do look really nice don't they 8)

Broken ones for £65?

I have one in the garage that only has a slight issue. The ‘right’ button on the D-pad doesn’t always work. Other than that, the wheel, pedals, etc are all perfectly fine. In fact, it was refurbished by Microsoft only a year ago.

If you want it, you can have it for a few quid to cover postage and hassle (it’s huge and heavy—a real pain to post!) It would at least keep you going until you find a better one.
