Hi All, 2 races in and I was wondering whether people were enjoying the new F1 season thus far? New introduction of Pirelli tyres, DRS and KERS. Curious to know peoples views. Ben ![]() |

Watched odd bits of both so far but completely unfussed that I've missed most of both. |

I’m enjoying it, but it’s too early to tell whether the rule changes are making an appreciable difference. I’m a fan of the KERS system, but not the DRS flappy rear wing. Or rather, I don’t like the regulated use of the rear wing system … I think it’s overcomplicated. Either allow the tech or don’t, all this ‘only on the straight and only if within a second of the leading car’ is rubbish. |

Wasn't overly impressed by the first race, the second was a bit better |

Agree with poprock. It doesnt need to be so complicated to get good racing. Many of the lower formulas are more exciting to watch,750mc for instance, but as usual with formula 1,there are so many big companies involved and each wants their moneysworth,"too many cooks spoiled the broth" ring any bells?I am in favour of exploring new technology and I believe that F1 should be able to demonstrate some pioneering influence on the domestic motor industry which will have some kind of positive effect on our energy consumption so that hopefully we can continue to drive cars albeit with a different and greener power source. The F1 boffins are the boys to come up with the ideas but they need to be given the free reign to get on with it! ![]() ![]() |

With boost buttons and the like its more like Playstation racing - interested in the start then dont bother. The leader on the first lap is only going to lose by mechanical issue, crap pit stop, crash etc, when was the last time someone overtook to win a race? I dont know the answer and dont care - just call me grumpy |

Well,in Motor Sport mag April ed Pat Symonds says overtaking ought to be like a goal in football so dont expect too many in a 90 minute race.I kind of agree with that but wish that we could get to a situation where cars overtook each other every lap.In fact Indy racing is like that! Its exciting too but its best on ovals which doesnt really suit F1.At the moment the key seems to be in the aerodynamics and whoever has the latest and best tweak wins. Its always interesting if not exciting! ![]() |

I think the cars have got too big and fast for the tracks they race on. Not enough room or time to overtake wtc.. Not bothered to watch it since that American Fiasco... |

I agree, but what we really need is some track fighting!,some good old fighting for that sought after positioning like we used to see with the likes of shumacher in the early days of FI,not all this round and round stuff with the almost certain person winning time after time...boring |

If they took some of the aerodynamics off the cars and gave them more power than grip that would be pretty good wouldnt it? ![]() |

Can take it or leave the racing, however I do like David Coulthard's outfits.... I said to my beautiful wife that I have the same physique as DC so could wear the same stylish clothes - just a shame I don't have the looks, the money, the yacht, the cars, the hotel, the charm, and so on ![]() How come his silver / grey stubble looks stylish and mine just looks scruffy! What? What are you laughing at? There's more to F1 than the racing.... what about the pit babes ![]() |

DC reminds me of Max Headroom! I'm not saying I'm an oil painting myself but I wouldn't aespire to be DC. ![]() ![]() David Coulthard ![]() Max Headroom Spot the difference. Ben ![]() |

Some interesting comments. I like the new DRS system. However, there is talk that 'within 1 second' rule might be reduced as the season goes on. I've heard 0.8s. KERS - I think all teams need to be running this. Amazing how Red Bull have not had to rely on it to heavily so far. Shows how fast they are in my opinion. Pirelli - Not sure about tyres that wear out quickly. We saw Nico Rosberg getting out of the throttle in Sepang just so he wouldn't be defending his position on the marbles. The marbles off the racing line will not promote overtaking. On the whole though, I'm enjoying the season thus far. Ben ![]() |

Wouldnt it be so much better with a proper commentator like Murray Walker though? He made it seem interesting even when it wasnt, which it wasnt a lot of the time! ![]() |
