I was seeing one of my widow clients in Hyde yesterday evening. Left her house at about 2015 and and drove along Mottram Road to the traffic lights at Morrisons. Turned left onto Union Street so the multi-storey car park was on my right and..... BANG, big noise on my bonnet, cloud of dust and grit "what the f**k". Pulled up, looked around and saw kids running on the top floor of the multi-storey car park (turned out they were on bikes). Drove into the car park but it was gated off at the first level. Fortunately a copper was walking nearby and he came to speak to them. He knew their names, even shouting to them "Reece, come here now", went and told them off, came back to me and said "you're wasting your time, the families are real shitbags". He took some details and off he went, playing with his truncheon... or maybe it was an itch.
They started goading me again as I drove off, the gobby one on the BMX saying "I'll eff up your effing face you effin tw*t". I really don't know why, all I said was "Come here" - I never spoke at any other time. They cycled off shouting further abuse, so I drove off, turned round and chased them down a side street, through an opening in the wall, over a dirt car park and then stopped - those 944s are pretty nifty when you get them going - but no match for a group of local kids on BMXs. I got out of the car, stood there looking across the wasteland at them, helpless because there was no way I was going to catch them. The gobby one shouts "Get in the effin car, get in the effin car", and his sidekick, who was reloading his pockets with stones from the car park, shouts "yeh, get in before I rob it". I'm not stupid enough as to leave the car and pursue them, especially as I didn't know where the other four were.
I knew I was wasting my time so I drove round the corner, parked up, took the tie off and walked up the road. Two Asian lads said "They're always doing it, give them a smacking if you catch them", then "I know where they live, it's just down there". 'Down there' was where I'd left the car...... I went back and got in it and drove home.
This morning in the daylight I can see there are new dents on the bonnet near the windscreen, through to bare metal, and because this time we know who's done it I've reported the damage to the Police. I have to go in tomorrow at 1400 to give a statement - the scumbags' parents can pay for it..... though on previous experience with the Police I won't hold my breath.
Any suggestions? because I will not incriminate myself on here as to what will happen if I don't get a result via the plod. Suffice to say that they won't get away with it. I didn't speak to them because I never threaten anybody - people who make threats never actually do anything.
