I bought the Talex Lite unit in May 2005. I also purchased a one-year update package on the basis that I wouldn't buy anything longer just in case the company went bust..... the company went bust.

When Adam Blair took the Talex company over from Embedded Technology and re-named it Novus - using exactly the same units and technology but with a different badge - he gave everybody who had purchased Talex free upgrades for life.

Now it's stopped working. All I seem to get on the website or from support is 'your subscription has expired' and they want me to sign up for £3,95 a month. Unfortunately the grammar of the support person 'Sally' indicates that this may be a foreigner and maybe a scammer - therefore I will not giving up my bank account details.... then again why should I when I have 'free for life' updates and I haven't died yet.

Has anybody else had any recent experience with their Talex system?

Not just me then :D

Ok, I'll ask, what's a Talex when it's at home?

Edit: I see, it's some kind of GPS.

The Talex Lite thing http://www.activegps.co.uk/talex-lite.htm is a great bit of kit. I have it mounted on the top right corner of the dashboard and it tells me where all the speed cameras are and the relevant limit, when I'm entering an 'average speed area', to slow down if I'm going too fast (unlikely for me) in these areas, where 'possible mobile cameras' are (and it's been right a few times), and a couple of other things.
