Hi There,

Has anyone come across or even been to a young drivers training course. Looking on the web I v found a company called Seat Young Driver.

It’s for 11 year olds and up, they use dual-control SEAT Ibizas and encouraged by an instructor, to learn how to control a car from how to start, drive, reverse and brake through cornering and lane etiquette – and how to keep your cool while skidding on or performing an emergency stop.

Why just for kids? I know a few adults that need to do this training.

In Scotland I have only found someone prepared to train a 16 year old on a private estate.

Had this link to this club on my favourites list for some time which I think I came across from someone on this forum. http://www.under17-carclub.co.uk/ Kept the site address for my eldest who will be eligible soon to join something like this.

I paid for my nephew to do an hours training with these guys at the NEC in the summer..
It was an 'uncles' treat that he thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated..

I was amazed just how quick they pick it up!! especially as he came past me at more than walking pace!! :D
On the day 4 of us took the kids and they all had a great time..
I'll probably do the same next year for my niece who's just turning 11.
Its not cheap but something they hopefully remember and gives them a headstart into Petrolhead world
If you pick the right date they actually do half price days

To add they do different venues across the UK, the NEC doesn't have the skid facilities but I'm sure I've seen pictures of the kids driving at the Porsche Silverstone centre!

Thanks for the input guys,

Gary, I was looking at the NEC as it’s just up the road, looking at the costs its showing as 30 quid for ½ hour and just under 60 quid for 1 hour which I didn’t think was too bad as its their car being wrecked :D

Have to see if my little girl racer wants to have go in the spring?

I've hopefully attached a photo showing the layout they use at the NEC- its in the North Lorry park area (towards the Premier Inn)
No skid training on the days that we were there... certainly worth the money and time- the 1hour flew by to be fair.
Nice selection of coned roundabouts etc..

I think they enjoyed the trip there and back aswell- In mine :D
