A fit car will not be damaged. But it does stress the engine. Particularly the cooling system that will be pushed to it's limit. When your doing a maximum power run but the car is standing still even the biggest fans are puny compared to cold fresh air hitting the rad' at 100+.
The advantage is you find out if your car is producing the power it had when it was new. Most people don't actually want to know this as the results are often disappointing & simply plugging a chip in is far cheaper.
Though often a skilled operator will find simple solutions to find the missing power like curing a vacuum leak you didn't know you had or cleaning the injectors. Resulting in a more powerful & economical car. Running smoother & better than you believed possible.
If your serious about your Porsche & it's maintenance then it's a must in my book. A Porsche that doesn't go is nothing more than an embarrassment.
First time on my car was dreadful. Despite it's service history it was 40 hp down on what is should have. Not anymore!
