Hi There,
Got a problem with my Audi A3 (petrol), its due to be towed into the garage tomorrow for the sum of £125.00  (these recovery companies’ must think it’s Christmas)
The question is can anyone shed a bit of light on what the problem might be before the garage start charging me for all sorts of parts.
Started the car this morning which had being on the drive for the last 12 days, started fine and went for a quick drive up the road, all OK, got back on the drive and left it on tick-over to fully warm up when I noticed that it was not running smooth, on the dash was the engine management warning light and I misfire like its running on 3 cylinders.
When you blip the throttle you can hear a rush of air, I was wondering if it’s got an air leak which is given the engine the wrong mix.
The garage has said it would be better to tow the car so not to wreck the cat.
Any pointers would be a great help :D
Many thanks.

I think I'd give it a thorough check over myself before forking out £125 for a 'lift' to the garage.

With somebody helping you you should quite easily be able to find the source of the 'rush of air'. Could just be a loose spark plug or a split air pipe.
