at the AGM we discussed ways to promote the club and especially the national event at Gaydon.
with that in mnd i have opened a Tipec Group page on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=30279020435.
(if this is concidered inappropriate then i shall happily close it) please feel free to add any appropriate news, messages and photos to the page.

Hi :)

I was thinking about this...

You sure it will not "water down" the Tipec image....if you see what I mean ?

All the best Brett :)

I agree with Helen and Sean, Tipec is the friendly laid back club and thats our image, with millions of people worldwide on facebook it can tell a very wide audience of our existence, remember there is no UK or GB in our title, we want members to join from foreign parts, unfortunately they will miss out on a lot of the UK only discounts the club now offers which more than pay for your membership fees but for some a sense of just belonging to the club will more than do

Hi :)

Hmmm I am still not totally convinced, what next BIBO or more of these clone sites ??

There are a lot of them you know....

Also you realise that Tipec members have to login to Facebook to reach this ??

Should not a decision on this not be made by the Committee ?

All the best Brett :)

TIPEC members don't need to log in, they already know about the club and what we are up to.

There's an old marketing saying any publicity is good publicity.

Yes, I think it's a good idea for a modern, forward thinking club - as Sean says any publicity is good (with the possible exception of the F1 guys)

I can't see any problems with it.

There is a very wide spread of people who use Facebook, not just spotty teenagers.

Well done Helen,I think its a good idea, Sean made a comment about at the AGM about "men with Beards sitting around a campfire quoting part no's", :D this could be a way of showing the masses there is another side to car club ?

cheers

Derrick

Hi :)

Try clicking Helens link if you don't think you have to log in...

And an answer to the Committee question ??

OR can ANY member put up a Tipec site ANYWHERE / ANYTIME ?? without permission ???

As a member I think I am entitled to an answer to this ??????

All the best Brett :)

sigh!! Brett are you sure your not just pissed off because its me who did it ?

what is it you have against me ? i'm getting a little tired of your angry out bursts at everything. This is TIPEC not the PCGB. its friendly, with no agro, stamping of feet or throwing toys out of prams.
i did say in the very first post that i am more than happy to remove the facebook group if its not wanted.
I see it as a nice free advert for the club. which i hope a few Tipec members will add to. to show what the club is all about.

Hi Helen :)

This is about Facebook..NOT YOU...

How long have you used it ?

Some of my employees use it and its DAMN annoying....all the messages and jokes and pictures that are being sent etc....

You cannot go 5 minutes without something popping up from Facebook..I am not sure Tipec SHOULD be associated with it, but thats THEIR decision, but I would prefer it to be an INFORMED decision, and I am not sure the Tipec decision makers have EVER used or even seen Facebook ???????????????????????

I am sure that Tipec members do not realise this....

And as far as you personally are concerned, then yes I think you did something that was ill considered and without Tipec permission.

And more importantly NOT IN TIPECS interest..........IMHO....

All the best Brett :)

Post subject:  Re: Tipec on Facebook.

i have used Facebook for over 6 months..

i get NO pop ups or irritating e-mails as i have set my privacy setting to not send me any notifictions. the silly pictures and messages you talk about, you only get if you choose to subscribe to those applications (eg funwall/ superwall to name just two).

this is an advert on facebook for tipec... not ment to be an advert for facebook on the tipec forum. so its aimed at those porsche owners who already use facebook.......... and there are many.

I have used Facebook and it is a huge waste of time!

I'm happy with a single source of online TIPEC information.

:D
