As I suspected opinion is divided, thanks for all the informed comments.
I have been destroying and losing CD's for years, swopping them from cars, garage, lounge and study. Hopefully with an ipod I can leave the collection in one place, I wanted a portable dock so that I can listen to my tunes anywhere no restrictions.
I think I'll be buying my original choices, John Lewis has a £50 discount if you buy an ipod and bose dock together.
