Childred, children. This topic is about the possibility of doing a track day this year, whether it has the support, or is financially feasible.
Paul has kindly offered to organise it, and I'm sure there are many, many users out there who seriously want to give it due consideration.

Please, please, please if you want to get in to bravado and "my dad's bigger than your dad" then PM each other.

I'm not a moderator, but equally, I'm sure I'm not the only person thinking this.

The first one not to respond gets my vote as having attempted to grow up.

If I'm speaking out of turn, then please Mr. Moderator, let me know.

Hi Graham

I couldn't agree more 8) Let's get back to the thread topic.

As the consensus so far seems to be "up for it if it's cheap", I would humbly suggest an airfield location; they are usually cheaper than a "proper" track and can be less intimidating for novices due to the enormous run-off areas. Ed & Natasha at MSE http://www.motorsport-events.com/ have just sent out their 2009 events calendar & we could do a lot worse than tagging along on one of their days. Really well organised days & a nice bunch of people to deal with too. Only potential downside is that all the venues are based near the M4 corridor which might not suit members hailing from a more northerly direction. Alternatively, take a look here for the most comprehensive list of trackdays I know of.

As an aside, note that not all airfields are tyre-wreckers. Even Brunters wasn't too bad last year. Snetterton is a proper track and yet it eats tyres faster than any airfield I've been on.

Yeah, pretty much as I thought: reasoned argument is beyond your skill-set. Ho hum, why am I not surprised.

Would love to do this on a proper track but I have no idea when my car will be on the road but I doubt it will be ready in time for this. Hoping to get it going for Le Mans next year at least.

I know that Motorsport Vision do novice trackdays which have the option of an instructor to help you learn the track properly which would be handy for trackday newbies like myself.

Nick's suggestion looks quite good from a value and availability point view, the organisers (not the bet).

There will be the option to run a few laps of the test track at Gaydon in May for those that want to dip their toe in the water for very little money.

Yeah, apologies to all who were bored / offended / annoyed by that little excursion

I do normally manage to resist feeding trolls, but just cracked for some reason.

Normal service has now been resumed :)

As the level of interest is simply not enough to make a Tipec track day viable I think Nick's idea of tagging onto another track event is the best option.

Paul Harrison and Bristol region are planning to go to Colerne Airfield near Bath on Saturday 27th June so my suggestion is anyone interested book up for this event and lets see if we can get a decent bunch of Tipec folk together for a bit of fun.

Details can be found here:

Definitely too far South for me, but I hope it goes well!

Thats a shame how do we go about booking up for the Gaydon track. Has anyone thought of going to the Castle Combe fun days where you pay for so many laps and you can have a club stand been a few times with various clubs good cheap fun, £15 for a session if I remember rightly and for 10 laps`ish. Gives you a go and dosnt completely kill your car.

Paul and I will be looking to do a track day as a separate but localised event if we can raise enough interest locally and the day will be set as per your events calendar for this club year.

Hopefully, we can raise enough interest and the costs will be less than an "open" event at sites such as Brunty

I anticipate that more news will become available as we get nearer the event time

Can we piggy back an event in the Midlands and in the North?

I should be up for a track day, no matter where it is.
trying to do one per month this year (not counting Jan...!)

Bedford is always good, as it's very well organised, has a nice surface, faily central, easy to get to and has virtually nothing to hit !
