the tools were bought around 3 years ago.

I have no idea how much snap on tools are now.

You get what you pay for!

crapon tools work out roughly £1 per mm for spanners/sockets and are worse than halfruads tools in reality, especially the ratchet spanners and ratchets, crapon always have a hard ratchet where as halfruads use a fine ratchet so they will work on a really lose bolt/nut.

i won't buy crapon because the warranty isn't worth a carrot!

jacks... go for clarke, can't beat clarke stuff in terms of VFM and usability

I have to say what planet are you on!!

I have used and bought snap on tools since 1975 and never had a major problem with them and any minor they have been changed in warranty with no problem. Even when I snapped a 18 inch breaker bar, with a 8ft scaffolding tube on it

not my fault you got more money than sense mate, i own one piece of crapon and let me say... its the worst made piece of crap i ever bought a 1/2"-3/8 reducer when it breaks (and it will) its going in the bin. £20 for something that won't last 2 mins under normal load.

give me Facom or Britool any day. even better still... halfruads tools are in my eyes far superior to crapon.

3 suppliers so far of crapon have refused to swap 3 items so one of them i used to buy a lot of tools from back in the day received every single piece i bought from him and that was the last time i bought that crap. i only now have this reducer because i was stuck for one and the crapon van just happened to turn up.

i forgot to add...
3 of the items i tried to get exchanged shouldn't have broke but they did.

i had a supplier of Facom tools and i had a set of drivers off him and had ground the main (most used) flat head down 4 times before i returned it, it was exchanged without a blink of an eye or a single question, you try that one with crapon. sorry i can not spell crapons real name due to its uselessness

Clearly it's each to his own, so constructive criticism is welcome, but slagging off isn't really necessary, and isn't very nice. There's always something that one person has had a bad experience with, for example I will not eat seafood, and all because 18 years ago I ended up in Leeds hospital with the worst food poisoning ever after having eaten fish in a lah-de-dah restaurant. I only recently started eating fish that has been cooked at home - but never ever eat it out. However I never tell anybody else not to eat seafood

Me? I got a trolley jack free from one of my divorcee clients whose husband ran off with another woman. His tools were in the garage and she said "Help yourself" - so I did :). It says Master Mechanic on it, which I'm not. She also 'gave' me some axle stands and a bike - which I restored and gave to an elderly neighbour. There's still a load more yet that she keeps saying I should have, but I don't want to appear greedy. Slowly but surely

So if you're reading this and you recently ran off with another woman - thanks.

Thing is, nothing is made to last any more!

When my dad passes away I shall inherit his tools - one of which is an old britool set that dates back to the early sixties and still going strong. Don't know if you could say thaT about the new stuff they are peddling.

Britool is the best. I have a Torque wrench. Fantastic. Trolley jacks last for ever. It's the seals that go. If you strip them down & put all the seals in a bag. Take them to any place that does rams for HGV's you can get the seals remanufactured for peanuts & rebuild your jack for under a tenner. Not worth it for a cheapo but if it's a good jack most definitely. So long as theres no corrosion on the ram. Did an old garage jack with a 3' lift awhile ago. Wouldn't like to buy another.

Craig dropped it round yesterday (thanks very much mate, I owe you a pint).

Great bit of kit goes from 91mm to 498 mm in 5 pumps, has a nice wide and long wheelbase for stability and a large rubber lifting pad. 1.9T capacity.

Aluminium construction means relatively low in weight, ideal for the DIY mechanic.

Total £80 inc VAT, I'd recommend this one highly for low cars.
