Well done Lewis but......................................hmm call me mister cynical , but don't you think the whole thing looks a bit stage managed ? great driving and all that, great to have a Brit there, (should be Jens though) but cummon wot happened to Glock ? don't think he spun , track was dry ,18 seconds ahead ? maybe a little visit down the pit lane or a phone call ? no shirley not, never heard of such a thing ? Plus arent you guys getting fed up with all those twerpy dads in the pit lane ? Mr Massa seems okay but I am heartily sick of the parasite down at McLaren . Thank god we have got rid of ITV F1 at long last , now we won't have to miss half the race to adds. :D :D

I would love to see Jenson winning regularly.we used to watch him in his FFord and F3 days all over the country and I KNOW he just needs a decent car and he will be up there with Hamilton ,Massa,Alonso etc. Dont mind the Dads, but as regards stage management i m not sure yet.going to look at autosport.com and see what the opinions are on there! :)

I have to agree with the view (that is also being aired in / on the media) that Glock gave up and the race was fixed at the end. As for the dads, I'm a dad and very proud of my kids, I would be there too, but like Massa Snr I would be discreet and stay in the garage. Massa Snr never courts the press, whilst the parasite Hamilton Snr does so all the time. He has much too much to say for himself, he's always where he shouldn't be (on the grid, on the pit wall etc) and always refers to 'we' when talking about Lewis's achievements - for they are Lewis's and not his.

As for Lewis, why does everybody make such a fuss about him being black? There isn't such a fuss when anybody else wins. Nobody except for the media cares that he's black - in fact he's not black, he's half-caste (for the do-gooders the dictionary description is - having parents of different races, esp. one black parent and one white), so they could equally refer to him as being white - but it's not such a good headline. Anyway he's definitely not 'black' - but his dad is.

Although I have empathy with Hamilton Snr, he isn't the only bloke to bring up his kids (rather than the mother). I have done the same, my ex-wife became alcoholic over ten years ago, and when we discovered it the kids (there are three) came to live with me. I gave up my career when I was at my most successful (driving around in a Porsche wouldn't you know) and devoted my time to bringing them up. I have now returned to full time work, but it's hard to get back to 'how it was'. Their mother died five years ago age 44, but you won't find me mentioned in the newspapers because unlike Hamilton Snr I don't tell everybody (obviously you all know now!).

Anyway, rant over, reluctant congratulations to Hamilton (I've yet to speak to anybody who likes him), commiserations to Massa, who is the all-round better driver (the media have already made the point that Lewis is world champion but isn't the best driver), and a fond farewell to David Coulthard, the most successful British driver to date (points wise), who apparently is going back to driving trucks for his dad and running his gaf in Monte Carlo.

Hopefully next season will be more interesting as all the under-dogs newly developed cars come into play - but how can it be now they've banned the Nazi style sado masochistic parties!!

All this conspiracy theory stuff about Glock and Hamilton is BS. :bs:
Glock was on dry tyres and it was just too wet for them.
The telemetry shows that the only 2 cars on dry tyres were the Toyota's and that Glock was still faster than his team mate on the final 2 laps despite losing 18 seconds. I don't think he gave up anything.

and he'd have won it last season too - for the very same reasons.
I was waiting a couple of days after the event, just to see if Ferrari put in any kind of objection. I wonder what the deadline is...............?

Nobody is slagging anybody off, just passing comment. At least the country has a champion in something, which is more than the current crop of football / cricket / rugby players can say (not that I follow any of them). Unfortunately Lewis's first championship will forever be tarnished because of what happened at the end of the race with Glock - so he'll just have to win it more convincingly next year.

He wasn't the only person to be penalised this season, and I can't see Ferrari putting in an objection.

i'm glad hamilton won the championship, but was also half expecting ferrari to make some kind of objection to the result, and i agree he is probably not the best driver but its nice to see a new face as world champion after all those schumaker years, yes he was a great driver but the races were very processional, lets see what next season brings !

Remember Schumachers team mates werent allowed to race him, they were expected to bring the second car home as close to Schumacher as possible in order to maximize constructors points, although since he retired Ferrari seem to have had a change of policy on that score.I wonder if Max & Bernie had a word? Nowadays Massa and Raikkonen race and there werent any team orders until it became mathematicly impossible for Raikkonen to win the championship.Just like Ron Dennis has always run things at Maclaren. Looking at autosport.com I see that Glock says he was doing everything he could to keep the thing on the road and couldnt go any faster and this was obvious to other teams in the pits. On another note I couldnt agree more with Demonfish, those guys are all heroes ,even the ones right at the back!! :)

Just my opinion but I think you're wrong there.
Anybody who looks at the facts and data will see that hamilton won it without the aid of Glock or any other driver
But he was lucky that it rained enough to slow the Toyotas on the last lap

Lets hope next season brings more overtaking and less penalties and politcal BS!

oh what a nice friendly thread

right then,

glock - at first i thought there was something suspicious but if you watch the footage of everyone piling round the outside of him, he's travelling much slower but still twitching like mad, i think it's fair to say he was trying as hard as his tyres would allow. it didn't look that wet but for the entire field (except toyota) to change to wets with 2-3 laps to go it must have been :!:

tarnished - far from it i think. this season consisted of 18 races and for the first time in a long time the majority were spectacular and all had their part to play in the final outcome :!:

is hamilton the best? - at the moment i think he is but alonso is close. spa and silverstone kimi and massa were shite, hochenheim, lewis passed massa and piquet to win, monaco lewis won after being last on lap 2. lewis has introduceed f1 to overtaking

button - he's in the top class ( :?: ) of motorsport but has he got the killer instinct required to be the best? i don't think so. jarno trulli was heavy and slow in china but he made his car wide, button would politeley let people through :(

antony hamilton - as well as his dad he's also lewis's manager and you will find all the drivers' managers close by in the garages, their drivers arn't winning so they're not on tv. last year we saw alonsos' personal trainer (not even his manager) having words on pit wall with ron dennis after alonso pulled that pit lane stunt

"half-caste" - ouch, it may be in the dictionary but in these politically correct times you're supposed to say mixed race.

finally - hamilton is a well deserved champ and i shall be rooting for him again next year :D
