A-ha, what the Sausage van? yep, that was quite comical.

Well there were plenty of stunning cars in that place, I think it was maybe an auction house or some sort of posh classic car sales room. I should really find out.

Anyway, here is a pic of me on tour, I had an obsession with cleaning the Mia with Lavender soap, it smelled great  and no stinky exhaust fumes either!

Well done Kat, first you rebuild your 944 after its accident and now you are a co-pilot on a cool rally.. Why can't more women be like this?!?!?

If that was not enough, the idea of electric cars is really beginning to unsettle me.. I am a dinosaur, time to do some learning or retire :(

Hey Sean, how does the fast charger at service stations charge customers? (If that makes sense) my the kilowatt? or is it a government subsidised thing?

By the usage, a few £'s for a full charge. We take a rent for the space.

Well thank you :0) Why can't more women be like me? I don't know...I'm me because my Dad was great when I was younger and I loved his curly crazy hair, I have a feeling he actually wanted a son, so we played footie and I was always interested in helping him work on his cars, then I adopted a boyfriend who loved Beetles, my Dad helped with his tools and I bought a Beetle and drove a camper...and so on really, that's why I like cars, driving...etc. Although it hasn't always been plain sailing for me at all, it's been really tough alot of the time to carve out my way, being that most people here in the UK are miserable bas**ds! anyway, looks like they won because right now my car is in peices and I can't get a job, even though I have tons of admin experience! hey ho!...

Oh and Electric cars, I think they will have to be the future because the world just cannot take so much traffic for much longer, environmental impacts are already increasing beyond our expectations, we are running out of fossel fuels supposedly and we really will have to start using green energy to travel with. That's pretty much a fact although I only know the basics. Solar and Wind panels are already covering alot of Switzerland and Germany from what I saw on the WAVE and they are already manuracturing and selling electric bikes and cars, in some towns in switzerland the councils use them. I guess the UK will eventually catch up.
I really enjoyed driving in the Electric vehicles, they are so clean and it is a comfortable ride, considering you only have forward and back! a totally different driving experience, not a worse one like most people imagine, I liked the futuristic dials...it was fun :0)

Kat,

I think yesterday your spiritual sister visited the workshop.. A young lady with a 924S.. Turns out she is about 30, works in an office, has an NVQ Level 3 in motor repairs, has a 1969 Cortina she is restoring as well as her 924S a BSA and a modern Jap bike and all the car's she works on herself and loves doing it.

She said the same thing, her dad used to get her helping him with cars and she too thinks he wanted a son..

She also said that she wanted to be in a club, but the last time she turned up to a Porsche event (Porsche on the quay in Poole) she has someone pull up in a 911 behind her 924S and when he got out, he pointed at his 911 and said "Look what you can afford if you save up"... This kind of put her off Porsche owners... So I explained that TIPEC owners were different, and the 911 owner would be more likely to get the stick rather than the 924S owner, and it would be taken in good humour.

Hopefully she will come along to one of the local meetings and she can join in with the good natured banter..

I need to point out though, my comments earlier were not trying to say women should not be capable of being into cars, just that I wish more women were into cars and getting involved enthusiasticly even down to the nuts a bolts level.

In any case, it was good to talk to a woman about cars and not have her eyes glaze over in boredom within seconds, I think the two of you would have got on like a house on fire, but then again I think she would have got on with any petrol head, man or woman.

I did indeed, would be good for her to meet the people from the club and realise we are much more friendly than people might expect a Porsche club to be.

Hi,
Wow, coincidence or what! I'm sure there must be more females out there who enjoy playing with a spanner and a torque wrench...
Actually, I can't say I really enjoy working on my vehicles, not at this moment in time anyway, there is a lot of work to do - not just tinkering (I enjoy doing that and washing/polishing the car) and mostly I would enjoy working on cars with a cute guy...or two  but you know, they seem hard to come by these days and then they usually hop off :kermit: as I'm yet to meet a level headed/normal chap who is not weird...this is probably the wrong thing to be saying on a forum full of guys but there you go!

Anyway, I'm going to carry on - as only yesterday I helped my cousin who owns a Lotus Eclat remove the engine and gearbox to replace the clutch, now that was a fun job to do and wow...what a funky car. :)

I had exactly the same situation when I bought my first Porsche which was a 924S, but not at a club meet rather in Tesco car park, with a real pri*k in a 996 cabrio, almost identical comment from him. My answer was to remind him of all the things I could still afford to buy and if he was representative of a "real" Porsche owner then I was glad I wasn't.
