Thank you for the feedback, we are pleased that you enjoyed the day :D z

A 944 owner usually asks the model parking question after each show.

We had intended to have model displays at the show but had to change that plan mid morning when it was obvious we were going to be left with a big gap in the parking area. The 924 Club let us down after saying that they were attending. :(

We deliberately keep the show area compact so that it looks good on the eye. We could have put the front engined cars further back. I am absolutely certain there would be howls of derision if we had done that. :o

So what do you do? You treat all Porsches equally, love them for what they are and park everyone as they arrive in The Independent Porsche Enthusiasts Club way. This is proved by the Regional Parking Area. Members all want to park together by Area, not by model. :)

It is people that make a Car Club, the car is what brings us all together. The best example I have of this was at Gaydon we had a 911 GT2 (£140k) park next to a ratty 924 (£500). Both owners got out of their cars both checked the distance to the cars parked on the left and right. Then had a chat showing the other their cars and it looked like they both appreciated each others machinery :?

Great photo's thank you for sharing them. :)

I didnt ask the question, just said it was a shame, but made it better for walking round the mix

The main reasons i feel that its better by model is purely for photography, and to see subtle differences between each car easier - thats all

great pics glad you enjoyed the show the problem with the parking is lots of people come down in groups so they are all parked together or in there regions plus it does make it more interesting when your walking round

it's quite possible to get pockets of the same model if people arrange to meet on route and come in together.

Maybe it's also possible for future shows to have , say a percentage of the parking area arranged in car order or a set number of each. Then when each model is filled up the rest go into general parking area ?

However it's done it will not please everyone but it will still be a good show.

Dear 944Bloke,

There's no need for it. What you are suggesting, is an orderly, very organised way around things, which will cause hours of waiting, for cars further down the line. You're basically saying, you want to skip certain cars, or certain years. What happened at Hatton, is how car shows should be ran. A group if independent enthusiast, being enthusiastic about their personal tastes.

The best part of car shows, is walking around, looking at various cars, without setting about it in an organised manor.

Anyway, great pictures, fantastic day.

Many thanks,
MonsterMatt :D :D :D

i'll ignore the rest of the comments as i didnt intend for my comment to lead to a big debate over whats right and whats wrong

i gave my opinion, someone else commented and off it went

i enjoyed it just the way it was... was good to walk round and see varying models etc

anyway, can we drop this topic about parking as its so tiny and tedious its spoiling the whole thing...

.

Thats what we had done this year, but it was clear early doors we wouldn't fill the space. :(

hey we can all critcise and say this or that could be better.....i,d rather park next to my central buddies,(even if we do have the highest concentration of 928s in the uk!) .putting on a show is difficult enough, enjoy it for what it is....an excellent day out with like minded people, the organisers should be very proud of what they do for us....the other club would have had the average cars parked in the long grass at the bottom of the field....ole! :bom:

I went to a PCGB event a few years ago and they tried the parking by model, this led to massive queues and complaints, and I got a rollocking for upsetting the organisers red and white parking by parking my red 944 next to another red 944

Lindsay, that was a fair while back!! :) I remember the RWB :D

Last year at the RAC they parked by register (I know as I was doing the modern registers) and the amount of complaints that I received (understandably) as people had travelled as a group tothe event only to find they couldn't park together...
However I did end up with a very straight line of 60 997s that did look quite impressive... :bounce:

It IS possible to organise a show that way .We know because its been done before.Im thinking of Elvaston about six years ago.How often do you see a nice 928 on the road? A rare sight these days but wouldnt it be good to have a whole bunch of them parked together?Same for the 968,the 964 and so on.It would make a spectacular show and I cant believe the owners wouldnt want to be a part of a show like that. :)
