Good evening all,

havent been on for a while, just been so busy with work, kids and various other stuff.

Came to the decision a few weeks back that in the new year I am going to have to get a second car, with 3 small ones who are getiting bigger as they do :) and the missus I cant live with the 944 alone for much longer.

However I dont use the car for work so the 944 only gets used for shopping, TIPEC events and the occasional shoot down to Plymouth, it doesnt go out much else as the whole family do not fit.

But then can I justify 2 cars that will only do around 3k a year combined?
Is it time to sell the 944 and still have a toy but at least a toy I can fit everyone in?
And if so what the heck am I going to be able to afford given that the only spare cash I can generate would be from selling the 944?

Really not sure what to do......

Not worth selling the 944, values are too low now

shouldn't be costing much on the insurance now anyway

Just get another cheap saloon, some nice mercs around at very little money now
CLK's plenty under £3k

Keep the '44 Gazza. You need a toy! Near mint mercs from £300. If I had the space I would have one myself. Get the 6 pot. Smooth as silk & like driving an arm chair.

or how about a classic saloon i.e.Rover P6 or maybe Volvo Amazon? Both nice cars and simple to maintain and pre 73s will be tax free as well. Get yourself a copy of Classic Car Weekly to get an idea of whats available and prices! :)

A Merc is a good option. Im a merc man through and through and have been for years now. I have a 190 2.6 which i love to bits. The Porsche was only meant to be my toy with the 190 being for every day use but to be honest, the merc now sits for weeks on end without being driven because i just love to drive the porker so much

And the Porsche is better on fuel on my daily commute(if i dont use the turbo to much that is :D )

Im going against all my natural 190 instincts here(i even moderate on a 190 forum) and recomending a 300d estate. All the room you will ever need and they can be run on filtered waste veg oil for free or fresh veg oil if found cheap enough to make it wrth while and they can be picked up for nothing these days.

I bought a BMW 323i SE as a run about.

Ideal motor for the family and keeps the mileage off my GTO.

Have a friend who got a mint 190 2 litre petrol for £450 But another who got a E class 175 hp 6 pot for the same. Amazing car for the money. (230 E )Big cats are also for nothing at the mopment. I 'me talking 7-8 year old low milage mint examples with full main dealer service history. The dealers can't sell them so dump them on the auctions with no buyers. Everyone wants a Honda Jazz. ( or similar 70mpg crap box) :drunken: (Can't spell when sober  )
