Joined up recently, went to make my first post last night and hit a block - mods need to approve..

anyway, read up about the show, so thought, lets see.. looked up on Google maps, said it was only about 75 miles away.. Weather was looking good so we thought why not, at least if it turned out to be a bit poo we could go to the farm village anyway.(didnt know what to expect)

Set off this morning at 8.30, filled up and cruised up, arrived just before 10 and was in the front row of 'Porsche general parking' , i felt it s a shame that it wasnt organised a little better, getting the various models to park up together in the rows.. but then it made walking round a lot more intersting..

We had a good wander round, sory, the newer ones dont appeal to me at all, up to about a '90 spec does tho.. thats just may tastes, as the pics will show..

We had a good walk round, looking at the various specs, differences between othe 944's to ours etc blah blah, decided I like it best on Teledials, but would love some of the fuchs from the 80's 911 on it..

We then had a little walk down to the 'car boot and dog show' field, tiny car boot sale and a small agility dog display made anice break for an hour, then time for a burger and another wander round.. was getting really hot by this point and i stupidly didnt put shorts on, if anyone noticed i was the big chap in boots, heavy jeans and a black route 66 tee shirt - getting hotter n hotter.. anyway.. pics...

Pics were all as taken form camera, no editing etc, all i do is make them small so they upload quicker - if anyone does want anything from here or the folder in hi-res let me know and i'll pop it over

Some great pics there, glad you enjoyed it.
An answer as to why no Marque parking. A. Someone would have to split cars & direct to parking which is always a thankless task. B. You get a mix of cars when parked up & it is far more interesting having a mix than rows of the same type.

yes i know, i used to run another club and put on shows, pain in the backside, hence why i said, at first i thought it was a shame, but then it defo made walking round more interesting, but it would have been good to see a line up tho

was a real good tho, Wendy enjoyed herself too..

Especially meeting dudley the dog, then going through to the dog show too :D

Couldnt agree less!In fact that is the very reason I dont go to the annual show any more because I went to the first show at Gaydon and it was like parking in a supermarket car park, albeit full of Porsches. When I joined Tipec at Elvaston we were invited to park with all the other 944s and immediately felt welcome and part of the show and met other 944 owners. Its not that big a deal to park cars in model order and personally Im not really interested in talking to people about modern cars such as 996 997 boxster etc. If next year cars are parked in model groups then I may come back. Glad you had great weather and a good turnout. :)

Phew, I was worried for a minute then...! the feelings mutual- I assure you

The club put on a great summer show today, one of those shows that the UK is so good at doing. :D
Lovely just wondering around the parking seeing all different types of Porsches and colours.

Met up with lots of other owners that were happy to talk both modern and classic and enjoy a picnic in the sunshine.

I wish I could have made it too!! But, my first show was at the South Hants Vehicle Preservation Society's meeting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Petersfield next to the A3. It was the first showing of my 944 that I've been restoring since September 2011. The Porsche presence there was not on the scale as it was at Hatton judging from the photos but, I was in good company with a fine example of a 1975 914 and 911SC.

The comments received from the visiting public were very positive and encouraging giving me the confidence to show the 944 to a wider audience. I will definitely be attending Hatton next year though!

Good to see that a great time was had by all and the photos taken and shown on here are superb. I look forward to seeing some more.

So you wont go to a show unless you can park next to other 944's and avoid talking to owners of more modern cars......... I mean seriously?
I cant vouch for future shows as I will not be organising them again, but given what TIPEC stands for you may have a long wait.

Woah woah

Come on guys - as a newbie, i put up a post with loads of pics and a write up following a trip to the show.. and this topics now going off on a direction that it wasnt intended.. Dont turn it into a slagging match..

I will say tho, I would have preferred it had there been a line up of each car, it wouldnt have been to hard to do. There was someone directing people anyway, just pointing and parking, the rows could have been marked out with model for directional purposes and then parked them up in a line

the reason i say i would have preferred it because then the subtle differences between everyones cars would have been more noticeable, and for photo's they would have looked loads better being in lines of the same model..

the flip side tho as a general visitor having a mix of cars to walk round was great - so its 50/50 as to who wants what - your never going to please everyone

I think it was a great show, everyone I spoke with had a good time, I think most Tipec members would prefer yesterdays format, which encourages visitors to take in the whole show, and not stay in a model specific enclave.PS well done Sean and all who helped, and thanks for all the nice pics from all you snappers
