Hi guys,

One of our managers has just been conned out of a considerable amount of dosh:-

He saw a BMW on pistonheads, contacted the seller who told him to deposit his money in a holding account which had a phone number that the person who answered said was such a pistonheads account.

The premise was that the car would be delivered to him on a trial basis and if after a week he still liked the car then he paid in the rest of his money or the car would be picked up and his funds returned.

Yes you've guessed it no car turned up and no refund and the police are now looking for the adddress that ties up with the account.

Phil

Exactly.

How about: You deliver the car, and I'll transfer the money on the spot.

Seems to be happening a lot on Pistonheads(possibly other sites as well) I responded to motorhome advert. Email advised selling quickly as was being posted for long tour of duty to Afganistan. Could not respond to calls as on training. Suggested putting money to holding account and they would ship, if i was happy then i could authorise release of funds
My response, reported to Pistonheads as scam and they removed add
As above buyer beware NEVER release cash without seeing goods
