Spent my lunchbreak working on my 944 S2, managed to snap one of my cam cover bolts. Went back to work in a bit of a mood, but had to interview someone for a job, so had to pull myself out of it. Went home feeling positive that I would get the rest of the bolt out and then managed to break one of my fuel pipes on the fuel rail. I am now in a mood again and have two extra problems on my todo list and cannot drive my car. :(

Should have never picked up a spanner today! Ah well, lesson learnt and all that.

Don't suppose anyone knows where I can get a couple of new cam cover bolts and a replacement fuel rail?

I need a beer...

Dave.

I'd ring Porsche for small bits. They bend over backwards to help in the Leicester one :)

Email already sent. Was hoping to have to visit the porsche centre as little as possible, not once a week!

My own stupid fault though. A combination of lack of sleep and laziness on my part. Ah well, can't really learn to do something properly without making a few mistakes along the way. All fixable stuff so all is good.

I'd go to this thread and download the parts catalogue for your car and phone porsche with the part number. If you give them your chassis number they will tell you the part number, but on the 928 cam there is 2 different size of bolt, you need to make sure you get the right length. Same for the fuel rail. Hope it's not to expensive.

Thanks Lee. luckily I sheered one of the longer bolts. Found a site in the states that is selling them for $10 each, so if Porsche are asking stupid money i have that as a backup. Will also phone some breakers about the fuel rail. Couldn't find either of those parts available from any uk online stores. Although porschapart were selling a brand new 944s fuel rail for £75 so hopefully I can get all the parts for around the £100 mark. Was trying to take a look at the cam tensioner pads as I heard a few horror stories about them snapping on the S2. Was going to replace the top plastic part of the tensioner, just to be on the safe side. Belts were all changed in December of last year, so they shouldn't need changing for another couple of years yet.

Dave.

For reference:

Bolts - £5.80 each direct from Porsche
Fuel Rail - Second-hand, £75.00 delivered from Douglas Valley (came with a fairly new looking Bosch Fuel Pressure Dampener attached as well)

The fuel rail is no longer available from Porsche but did cost £324 when it was! Glad I managed to find one from a breaker. I know Douglas Valley get pretty mixed reviews (especially on this forum), but I found their service to be really good and I received it by courier the next day.
