Trusteer Rapport is the program all the banks are pushing at their clients (providing it for free) to help with security. However it's caused me a nightmare.

Tuesday AM - turned on computer as usual, sent some e-mails, then went onto internet via Google Chrome and went to BT Yahoo to check for e-mails that have accidentally gone into spam. BT Yahoo wouldn't load up, said a SCRIPT (whatever that is) was doing something to my computer. Then it just went tits-up and by Wednesday night it is still not resolved. It would not allow me to go back, it would not allow me to virus check.

What Rapport did -
Caused the anti-virus program to stop working.
Removed all my personal settings and preferences, i.e. my 'profile'.
Turned the computer language to English (US) - which I have tried to reverse but without success.
Deleted my Paperport program, along with the all the files and data within Paperport.
Deleted my Outlook Express e-mail and all the saved messages and contacts.
Deleted my Microsoft Outlook e-mail and all the saved messages and contacts.
Deleted my Kodak photo program and all it's contents.
Deleted about 250 client folders and all the information held in each.
Other things have also been deleted.
Reset my 'internet' page to a 'new' one, therefore losing all my internet favourites and personal settings as well.
It has deleted everything that I need to use to conduct my business - therefore affecting my cashflow.
It has deleted everything I need to conduct my 'private' internet life, i.e. the Squash Club website, the Triathlon websites, the TIPEC website..... and so on.

I completely deleted Rapport yesterday when I worked out that that was the cause of the problem (they also admit to being the cause of the Google Chrome flash viewer keep crashing and this update was to repair that). This allowed my anti-virus program to start working. I have run anti-virus checks and removed a number of 'problems' from my computer. I am slowly rebuilding and resetting everything, but I want everything as it was rather than everything but 'new' - and therefore without all the valuable data.

I would be grateful if anybody could inform me how to recover my lost data and to have all the deleted programs re-instated. I do have back-ups from about a month or so ago, but basically I'm stuck.

The Rapport people have telephoned me from America to try and help, but I was out running and just have to wait for a response to my latest e-mail to them.

By the way, it's not just me - if you Google it there are loads of people suffering similar problems with it.

Any tips at all are appreciated.

Thanks
