Perhaps you should tell your insurers he has changed cars since the accident, and the original may be in for repair to avoid any evidence... which is what it sounds like.

Request details of the insurance ombudsman scheme and advise them the driver accepted blame at the scene.
Wouldn't look good on the guy or his company if he works for the insurers. Just going to the ombudsman will usually cost them money so may open their wallet to prevent a black mark.

He's obviously just a neighbour and not a friend then.

Go to his employers to ask what has happened to the company car - you may even see it parked there so take a camera.

If you get nowhere go to the lease company (a lot of company cars are leased) - the name of the company should be on a back window sticker / tax disc holder / bottom of number plate - and ask them for the info (his replacement car will be from the same company). I have recently done this for an elderly neighbour and received all the info we needed from the lease company's insurance company.

Go to the Police to see if there are any CCTV cameras that cover that area.

If you have fully comp insurance just claim on it and let your insurance company sort it out, giving them all the info you have found out.

You'll find that you have to do a lot of running about / chasing up yourself - but if you want something to happen and you want to know what's going on, then it's best to do it yourself.

Finally, if like me you've got three brothers who are all bigger than you and can remind him of his responsibilities...... sometimes diplomacy is the only way

Good luck with it.

Thanks for the ideas. Contacted the council today to trace the road sweeper the idiot nearly ran over. Be enough if he just says that.

That’s great news. Hope it doesn’t drag on for too long.

Good news, keep at it though, don't rely on anybody else to sort it out for you - they're really not interested unless there's something in it for them....

And keep us all updated.
