i used to do a lot of work for an oak saw mill in cornwall,the name of the company is CROCADON SAW MILLS.they are situated just outside the village of ST.MELLION,just across the road from the golf course of the same name,they do all sorts of timber flooring and very good quality as well,give them a ring,speak to a guy called mike mann,they also have a website,hope you have some luck!...............andy miles 1983 estoril blue 911sc

I work with Surface Plus a lot, they’re the best in the business. A long way north of you, though … which could make them expensive for a residential project.

Why don't these websites put prices on? They might actually sell something.

They do it so they can check their prices against the competition and charge me more

Nah, it’s just not the kind of industry that has off the shelf prices. Timber sourcing is a tricky business if you want top-notch materials and fitting costs are going to be entirely dependent on the complexity of the job.

On the offchance that you do try contacting Surface Plus, ask for Alan Kennedy and say that Tony from Graven Images recommended him.

I've already tried this Paul.

It looked posh, especially in the boot, but the extra weight slowed the car down and had a terrible effect on the fuel consumption. In the end I went back to carpet.

Its ok, I have a granite fireplace in the passnger footwell, so the wood won't affect it too much more

On the topic of wood floors..!! I am looking around for some nice oak flooring...I would like very wide boards minimum of about 18mm depth x no shorter than 500mm in length.....although having said that if the floor was nice I wouldbe bothered about the minimum lengths...also I owuld like it in a warm oak colour and it needs to be rough non eof this flat as pancake surface for me.....so if you do manage to source anyhting good I would be greatful for a nod....and if I find something in the meantime I will let you know....

Something using reclaimed wood would be good for you, I reckon.

I have looked at this but they do seem to want a hideous amount of money for it...!! I can stomache upto about £60m2 maybe I am being unrealistic...!!??

I would consider having a look at B&Q's top end stuff. It seems to be good stuff and it's not 'flat as pancake' having an undulating surface.

Just don't say things like you write them...... although I suppose the old B&Q man will be pleased when you tell him you want it rough and you're not bothered about minimum lengths
