I have a few websites and mainly a canine related site and forum. The forum varies between number one and three on google uk rankings depending on what they are doing with their algorithms etc at the time.
Once your site is well up on the search engines under a common term you will get a lot of bot attacks , as well as the odd n** end idiot spammer.
I have implemented so many differnet types of anti spam over the years but it's usually just a case of keeping up with the times and 'minimising spam'.
In the last two days my e-mail server has been bombarded with Viagra type e-mails etc yet up to two days ago I was getting zero. I am curently suffering on the mail front but not particularly on forum join ups ( well no more than usual)
Spammers adapt all the time and forum and web admins have to as well , I'm afraid there is no easy solution ( that works) or someone would flog you it !.
From what I have seen your spam on here has been very minimal since I have been enjoying the site, I assume you have implimented the Version/MOD that doesnt show inactivated accounts as last joiner , that mod is important as it stops bots with VERY offensive names showing at the bottom of the homepage as last joiner even though they can't post.
