Porsche decided to launch the Panamera on the 94th floor of the World Financial Centre in Shanghai. The only way to get it up there was in the freight elevator. The only way to fit a Panamera in the freight elevator was to stand it on end.

Really bright idea then
Didn't anyone think about that in advance of booking the room.

If its like any of my events then NO!!
Part of the wow factor though is that it is on the 94th floor.

Had worse. 4ton xray machine, delivered to a 1st floor via a 2 ton lift..

Had to dismantle the machine down to component parts and get it up that way.

On the opposite end of the scale, a customer of one of our higher spec systems at 8.5ton. No problems, they just dismantled the side of the building and craned it in...

Clearly Porsche did think it through … it fitted in the lift, after all.

Nice photos though!

Done various computer moves over the years, including moving a DEC VAX by taking the lift doors off to give enough width!

Also delivering a DEC system to American Express Travel opposite Harrods, big spiral staircase, two of us one skinny one big, the stair walker got away from the skinny one, I was in the way of the system weighing probably 300kg :o . I stand to one side, system trashes itself at the bottom of the stairs! We had to take it back & rebuild it.....

I bet the engineer who had to design the cradle for getting into and out of the lift spent some time thinking about it!

Hmmm!

Who was resposible for designing the lifts in the World Financial Centre then.

They should have thought of this at the design stage !?

I had a safe to deliver to a firm in Kidlington weighed god knows what so I reversed the artic up to the front steps and got it off with a pallet truck on the tail lift and dragged it into the reception almost rupturing my knackers in the process, the guy comes down signs for it then says it needs to go on the 2nd floor but theres no lift, oh I say tell you what I`ll just shut the lorry up and fetch my mate whose asleep on the bunk and were meet you up there, he left and so did I at about 100mph..... never found out if he ever got it moved.
