 Post subject: Boxster lock-out with flat battery

Hi guys, can anyone help me get into my 98R 2.5 Boxster!! , battery is flat and the key just turns in the lock!! also I am thinking changeing it for a 928, which is the best model to have? with up to 10k to spend.

Sorry, no idea - a quick web search threw up a few suggestions at http://www.986faq.com or you could try asking in the dedicated "Mid-engined" section of this forum in case there's someone there who doesn't read this General section.

Seriously - the best model is any one that somebody else has spent loads of money on maintaining properly :wink:

Otherwise, with that budget you could get almost any version apart from the GTS; manuals are rarer than autos and the later S4 has more "bells and whistles" (more to go wrong a cynic might say) than the earlier cars. The very early pre-S models feel a little underpowered compared to the S and later but I like the purity of the spoilerless shape and reckon that will be the first version to start to appreciate, the values of 928s in general are falling.

If you haven't already found it, there's a very good 928 specific website and mailing list at http://www.928.org.uk
