I am selling my number plate;

Is advertised on ebay, just type in "Porsche number plate", and you should find it. Bidding starts at £1800, or buy it now for £2500.

Any questions, give me a shout. Jack

My thoughts, 2.5k exceeds the true value of quite a few 944s that I can think of  And even on the very best is 25% of the value.

Well only time and ebay will tell ? WHo knows it might sell at that price.

I think the Y in YPH will make it very tricky... not sure it will match many initials of likely drivers. Other than that is just 944 plus meaningless letters.

Blokes names beginning in Y.. non spring to mind. ?? But no doubt someone will prove me wrong.

I used to work with a Yvan but he was French (very) so doubt he'd be interested.

So a Frenchman called Yvan with more money than sense and who drives a 944. I would say thats target marketing !!!

I bought another plate recently that included my initials for 250, the plate can stay with the car. I had a good look round for the number 944, and there was nothing out there at the time. Initials on plates don't mean anything to anyone other than the owner, so i don't see them as important. Anything that has a model number like 944 or get priced higher just because of that. 944/911 is obviously only of any use to a P owner, even DLVA overprice these.

I only changed my plate so that the car was less likely to be recognised as having belonged to the previous owner. The plate still has the J prefix and my initials on the end, as I say they are meaningless to most people anyway. I wouldn't buy the one advertised here either, but someone else may well do so.

I don't know why we can't have the system used in some USA states, where people just make there onwner plates up - like spanners, flamingo etc... DVLA could cop a ggod income from that, and I can't see a problem. Seems another stupid system we have here.

Wow, I can see there has been a bit of discussion about this plate here.

I think most people on here believe it is overpriced. And to be honest, I can't see a huge market for a number plate that costs more than most 944s (including mine). Having said that, I was merely basing my price on the prices charged by the DVLA and other companies for plates with the 944 prefix. Most will cost around £2000 after all the fees are paid.

In response to some other comments, if you dont want adverts on here, then dont include a 'parts for sale' section. And if you get p$$sed off by them...dont go into the 'parts for sale' section! Sorted.

No bids yet...you never know, there must be a couple of Yosef's out there...

Regards,

Jack

The usual protcol when joining any forum on the internet, is to make an introduction post first to the regular members. It is always appreciated when newbies do that to break the ice.

Without an intro, any first post trying to sell something - on any forum - often causes annoyance to guys who contribute useful info to the forum. It gives the impression that you only want to 'use' the forum/club rather than join in with them. TIPEC is actually a club that happens to have a forum.

Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Not pissed off by them just the common courtesy of introducing yourself (Post Number 1) Advert (Post No. 2) would have been nice, Yes?
