Good morning,

I am after a bolt in half cage or harness bar for one of my 944's.

I am going for a track car 'look' so doesn't actually have to be that structural - but does need to look the part.

Ideally a Redline bolt in bar, but I am sure I will struggle to find one of these in the UK?

Cheers,

Tom

Hi :)

Not sure which you want...the cage bar or the harnesses ?

For my 928 which is a daily driver (so couldnt have a cage) ..I NEEDED 6 point harnesses for my high speed runs....

But nowhere to mount the rear harness...

Sooooo... I bought from 928 Motorsports a pair of rear suspension top mount harness brackets.... simple to fit...undo the 3 nuts , add the mounts ...do up the nuts...

That gives a rear harness mount with no bar or cage needed and the harness mount is the correct angle...

The race seat and other harness mounting points are a different story which I can explain if you wish....

Will include a picture that gives a rough idea....

Note where the rear harness straps go under the carpet to the rear suspension top mount...

Christ Brett, thats some set up.

Yes noticed the Brey Krause harness bar on eBay this morning, its what prompted the post here. I fear it will sell for plenty, I asked the seller for a buy-it-now, but he is going to let the auction run - which is fair enough.

TBH I'm really prefer something that bolted in and out, especially to the rear seatbelt mounts (like the Redline solution) as my rear seat belts are missing. The idea would then be to source a suitable fixed driver seat (like Brett's) to give the track car look. I don't really want to start welding in cages or making holes as there are very few sub 100k turbo's left and I want a reversible solution.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom :)

I only used 1 bracket for mine...so IF 928 strut tops and yours are the same...I could let you have my other one....if it helps...

They look like this >>> http://928.jorj7.com/images/s4-sb-ps-stower-a1.jpg

I have one of their bolt in cages for my 968 (which I bought pre-loved).... And so does Eldavo (944t).

However, had I been serious about converting my car I'd have gone via NicksonMotorsport (who was very helpful in offering advice to me some 18 mths or so ago).

We could likely fabricate you a bolt in harness bar that picks up on original fixing points in the shell. That would be the most likely option if you want to avoid welding plates/drilling holes in the car for a rear cage.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, I think I'll see how I get on with the eBay bar first.
