Think I may have overdone it with the head........Somebodys going to get a real bargain. Spent so much on it as I had no intention of selling it ever. But life changes. :( Anyas been pretty patient with me to be fair. Shes right. This obsestion was only ever going to end in tears..
Only hope is it might not sell as it's not an S2.

Thought I was nearly there. £85 for a head set. Then another 50 for the head gasket. Only wanted to do a reseal before putting on the new head & belts. GSF hardly listing anything like Bert Gear. Cheap bits have just dried up. Promax list a head set with a cometic head gasket. It's £185!! Last year I got a complete head set for a tenner!!! With only one wage coming in if I keep it we could just run out of money........It's got to be a weekend car then it won't eat the parts. But I don't have anywhere to keep it. :(

Shame it has to go - lovely looking car, and has obviously received the TLC it so deserves.

Let's hope if goes to a loving home :(

Thanks people. Taking Anya out in a nasty boring modern front wheel drive thing tommorrow. She suffers from car sickness in most cars but not the Porsche. When she goes green maybe..... It's a long shot but worth a try.

This may interest some of you. Took the family out in a Ford Puma 1.7. 55K miles & very clean bar a bit of paint & a fair bit of rust underneath! I was told these were a Vtec & went quite well. It had all the go of a rabied slug. Even the accountant thought it was "crap". Felt like driving a bus. It is cheap for bits. Warms up in a trice & so will be better on the mpg front. But I'm not sure I can live with the lack of go. Brakes didn't inspire either. Condition wise it's rough compared to mine. Books at 3K but was offerded the car for 2! Insuranse was £100 more than the Porsche. How do they work that out? The guy I talked to thought it must be a mistake but no. £400 fully comp is it. So theres still hope :) Accountant is wavering. :o

J.J Tell Mrs J.J unless it was a Ltd Ed 'Racing Puma' then the value will just keep going down whereas the 944 can only gain value, especially with the time you've put into it.

Good luck :thumbleft:

Thats not my car!
I've pulled the advert. Mrs JJ didn't like the Puma :D In fact she said it was C**p  Common sense says sell. But only at a fair price. If I sell it & buy another money pit it's not going to help any. An awful lot of 944's will get scrapped in the next couple of years. Only the best will survive.
Just ordered the water pump, Gaskets, Belts & rollers from JMG. £570  O well. Maybe it will still have to go. Easter would be a better time. But I'm not giving it away. Good '44s are becoming a rarity. I've had a few enquiries from people wanting it for 2.5K. Well the head I've got for it is special. (Copied from a successful race head & improved.) So I don't think thats realistic. Just hope nothing else big goes wrong for awhile. I will commute by train to keep the fuel costs down & just try to use it less for now. Saving it for long journeys were it does 35mpg anyway. Will have to slow down on the modification program. :blackeye: I will see what it's like when the heads on. Might have to get it remapped if the fuel ratio's too far out. Gearbox will probably go on until it needs a new clutch with any luck.
Don't know if this is the right thing to do but giving it away can't be a good idea. Thanks for all the suport! :bounce:
