I have decided to try and sell my 1991 S2 for personal reasons so if anyone is interested it is currently advertised on PistonHeads Reference #1131941.

If any body wants any more details please PM me.

Hi Dave

What is wrong?
You never mentioned selling your car at the Club meeting.

Nothing wrong with the car, in fact going really well just need to get something sorted and at the moment selling the S2 is the best way forward unless things change in which case I will keep it. Didn't mention it at the club night as I was not sure if I was selling and it was unlikely to be of interest to anyone there that night.

Your post just took me back to my NEEB days - we would call each other jackie all the time, so much more efficient :)

Very Wise. You would have had to give it away. Cars like that are increasingly rare. :)

No suprisingly I had someone who was willing to pay the asking price and still wants it if I change my mind, but when it came to accepting the money my Wife changed my mind and the guy fortunately understood.

Good news was I did not spend anything advertising it and still had a number of people interested so maybe the market is picking up at least for late S2s.

So someone came to look at your car, made you an acceptable offer, but then you decided not to sell?

Did you offer to compensate said gentleman for his wasted time and travel costs?

Although the guy who came to see it lived some distance away he was actually passing my house on his way to a relatives so had no extra distance to travel, as to the wasted time, he considered it useful as he now knows more about what to look for in a 944 and the coffee and biscuits went a long way to compensate him.

I did try to prevent him from coming over and phoned before he was due to leave his home to let him know however I could not get in contact, but I agree if it had been a specific trip to view the car I would have offered to pay his fuel etc it would have still worked out cheaper than making the mistake of letting my car go.

What I was trying to point out was that the interest I had in my car was possibly indicative of an improving market for 944s, although I still had a few people who seemed to want a sub 50K mile car with full main dealer service record and immaculate paintwork for no money at all, or as one guy commented that there did not seem to be much turbo lag for such an old car people who do not do their homework before arriving as obviously my S2 has no turbo.
