Post subject:  Porsche 944 Turbo - 51,000 miles

I am writing this For Sale thread with a pit in my stomach as I really am unsure whether I am doing the right thing, as I doubt I will be able to find a better condition 944 Turbo out there in the future.

My car is a 1991 Turbo which has a Full Service history and is in immaculate condition both inside and out. It has only covered 51,100 miles and is currently SORN'd and tucked up under its car cover in my air conditioned garage.

Details of the car are as follows :-

Date of Registration : 01/08/1991
Mileage : 51,100
Number of Keepers : 5
Supplying Dealer : Evans Halshaw Porsche, Warwick
Exterior Colour : Titanium Metallic
Interior Colour : Marine Blue Leatherette with Leather Pin Stripe Seats
Optional Equipment Fitted : Headlamp Washers, Sports Seats with Electric Height Adjustment, HiFi Package with 8 Speaker system and Amp, Door Cards and Back Panels in Cloth to match Seats, Sunroof, factory tailored overmats in Marine Blue

I have had fitted a new Toad i606 Category One Alarm and Immobiliser along with a new Club Sport 3 spoke steering wheel. I also replaced the centre arm rest with the optional tray and have fitted a VDO Dayton period looking CD/Tuner with built in Sat Nav that also has iPod (in glovebox) and Bluetooth connectivity

The wheels are the correct D90 alloys with 7 1/2" fronts and 9" rears fitted with Bridgestone S02 Porsche rated tyres that have done less than 2,000 miles.

In my ownership the car has had the following done to it :-

November 2012 : New Bosch Starter Motor fitted, New Fan Switch (at Porsch Apart)
November 2012 : Interim Service with the coolant system drained, flushed and replaced with new antifreeze and a new radiator fan switch fitted (at local independent)
January 2013 : Full Gold Service at 47,921 miles with a full 120 point vehicle inspection covering all areas of the car. Replaced brake fluid, new timing belts fitted (and tensioned 1500 miles later), new cam belt tensioner & balance belt tensioner, new water pump, new distributor cap & rotor arm, refaced front and rear discs, new steering shaft, new bonnet struts, new o/s track rod ball joint and end, gearbox oil changed, new clutch flexible hose. (at Hartech)
March 2013 : New Fuel Pump Fitted (at local independent)
February 2013 : New Foglight fitted (stone smashed the old one). Also fitted Foglight Protectors to stop it happening again.
February 2013 : Genuine Porsche Top Tint Windscreen fitted due to a stone chip on the original one
February 2013 : Promax Stage One Kit fitted and set up (at Evotune in Co. Durham)
August 2013 : New Wiper Blades

As you would expect the car drives faultlessly with no issues and all the electrics and mechanicals work as they should do. The body condition is exceptional with the only paintwork the car has had was the front PU, bumper and wings to remove 20 years of light stone chips. It didn't really need painted, but I am fussy.

Below are a few pictures of the car, but I will try to put up some much better ones at the weekend, weather dependant.

If you are interested and have any questions then please either call me on my mobile (07979 966633) or drop me a PM.

Asking Price for the car is : £18,000

The sills were checked when I bought the car and are original and in excellent condition. They have been sprayed with Dinitrol protective wax in both of the last Winters to ensure that they stayed this way. Last Winter I also removed the wheel arch liners and sprayed wax protection onto all the joints and connectors in the arches and on the brake lines at the rear etc.

I also removed all the wheels and coated them in a good quality Swissvax wheel wax to give them extra protection.

I don't know why I bother

If you think the price is too much then walk on, but why make a comment like that?

What is your 3.2 Supersport worth??

condition, condition, condition.......if it's exceptional, it's worth it.

I have just bought a 944 lux. I won't mention the purchase price because it is irrelevant. The car looked like it had just rolled out of the factory, inside ,outside, underneath and in the engine bay

How much a car is worth is for the purchaser to decide not the onlooker

In view of the other, now deleted thread, I am amazed how you keep your cool

Good luck Martin, car looks immaculate - can't be many Turbo's out there with this kind of mileage.

I am sorry if I offended you by my comment , it wasn't meant to be offensive , but I really did not think that a 944 would creep up to 911 money (meaning 996 and possibly 997 gen 1 money), I have had 3 944s and they were very difficult to sell all under 5k( but that was 7yrs ago) , they weren't turbos though , and just looking at the pictures your looks very nice indeed

I know all old Porsche prices have gone through the roof , so good luck with the sale

What's my SSE worth , don't really know , its not for sale so I haven't really thought about it

951 values are on the up
I sold my mint 39,000 mile super sport for £11k about 10 years ago but now I bet it's worth nearly as much as my 944 :D

A new loaded 944T like Martin's above - now circa £85k.
