Sadly, the time has come and we are putting our 944 S2 Cab up for sale... we've had an offer accepted on our new house and we intend to start a family soon, so unfortunately the maths just doesn't work out for us to keep the car right now, which is a shame as we would certainly be keeping it if we could! This 944 S2 has been cherished under our possession with absolutely no expense spared - you will be hard pressed to find one as nice and well cared for!

The car benefits from an unmarked gleaming Panther black body, linen leather interior and full sport seats with black piping. Car is totally HPI clear and comes with age unrelated number plate that has been on since 1996! What makes ours different to any other 944 S2 are...

* Cup 'Heated' Teardrop Mirrors
* Cup Door Handles
* Club Sport Steering Wheel
* 17” Cup 3 Turbo Twist Alloys
* Vented and Cross Drilled Discs all round
* Massive M030 Calipers up front

…all of which contribute to its stunning looks and performance!

* Extensive service history, with no fewer than 19 stamps in the book
* 17 MOT certificates to back up mileage, which currently stands at 123,742 miles.
* Brand new Mohair fabric hood fitted last year - roof operates faultlessly!
* Timing cam belt, balance belt, pulleys, rollers and tensioner were changed in 2011
* New water pump and both engine mounts, also in 2011
* calipers powder coated and serviced with new seals, bleed nipples and pistons last year (see pictures)
* Goodrich braided brake hoses fitted at the time
* Full 6000 mile service completed only in May last year!
* Engine coolant and brake fluid replaced at the same time
* Regular oil changes, which during our ownership have been yearly, including a proper engine flush!
* Dansk stainless steel sports exhaust and free flowing cat, fitted in September 2011
* The necessary cam chain and tensioner have been replaced, with new pads recently
* All four CV joints replaced (July 2012) ...expensive!
* Gearbox is perfect with NO whines or crunches - fluid replaced in July last year
* No sloppy gear stick associated with many 944s, having had its gear linkage replaced recently
* Lower wishbone arms replaced, along with rebuilt power steering rack...as such there are no rattles and the handling is lovely and tight!

A few other recent items under our ownership include...

* Speakers replaced with new high quality Alpine units (June 2012)
* ProMAX Chip, K&N filter element and spark plugs (Feb 2012)
* Front anti-roll bar bushes replaced (Nov 2011)
* Power steering pump overhauled, with new seals (Aug 2011)
* New Bosch rotor arm (July 2011)
* Cam cover overhauled, including all gaskets (June 2011)
* New Sachs rear shock absorbers (June 2011)
* Battery (May 2011)
* Power steering oil cooler replaced (Apr 2011)

...Oh, and did I mention that the digital clock works perfectly!

* Central locking works from a recently fitted Sigma Thatcham Cat 1 Remote ALARM... Certificate also included for your insurance company.

Car comes complete with...

* original cabriolet Tonneau cover
* Porsche tyre compressor and tools
* two sets of keys, both with alarm remotes

Everything detailed above can be validated with the relevant paperwork and service stamps. Yes, there are cheaper 944s out there, but most will need significant work. Our car really is ready to be enjoyed without worrying, especially as summer approaches!

Not sold yet, I'm afraid. But thanks for the kind words regarding the car. She is a beaut!

Had a few enquiries, but mostly from those looking for a car with less mileage (although 120k is nothing really). In all honesty, deep down, I know 8995 is certainly at the upper realms of what I should expect. But, I guess it is/was a bit of an attempt to get some of what I've poured in to her back... It's certainly early days, and cash isn't so tight that we're in a rush to sell, so I'm happy to hold out a bit. I would love if people make me some offers, to gauge what folk are willing to pay for a car such as ours.

Plan is to pop her on eBay at some point, and let the auction run to see what happens.

Do you know anyone who is looking for a summer toy by any chance?

I can't say that it not's sparked a bit of interest in me - I am considering many options at the moment

Do us a favour will ya - can you give me the exact width measurement including mirrors. I can't allow myself to become interested in it until I know that it would fit in my (small) garage. I've had a Cayman S in there and that was a bit tight. I reckon the 944 is a bit wider.

Also, how resistant, in your honest opinion, is the clutch? I'm semi-disabled you see and would be daft to get something that needs Arnie's left leg to operate it (though I don't want an auto). Would you describe it as normal or is it a bit hefty? I'm largely thinking aloud at the moment but luvin' the looks of yours!!!!!!!!

Lovely looking car, although I don't like those wheels (each to his own) and it's a shame about the cheap (and illegal - spacing) number plate.... it would look better with the real thing on there.

Good luck selling it, somebody will get a nice car for themselves.

By the way, having three kids I can tell you that running the Porsche is a lot cheaper than bringing kids up!

Sorry for the delay, we've had people over this evening so only just getting chance to get back now...

Wazzer - I did pop into the garage this evening to measure total width, including mirrors. In fact, its something I've been meaning to do for a while anyway, in case it's still with us when we move to the new place...


Including mirrors extended, I reckon it's about 75 inches.

Our new garage really is small, but this will fit in easy. Just don't expect to be changing any wheels with it stored in the garage

Re: clutch. I certainly wouldn't describe it as heavy, but it does take a little more pushing than our other car, which is a VW Bora. We've done plenty of long journeys in the car, and I've never found it to be a problem. It will no doubt be a tad heavier than your Cayman though. Certainly best to either come and have a spin, or try one out before hand, to make sure it's what you're after.

JW590 - I hear your thoughts regarding the wheels. But, as you say, it's personal preference at the end of the day. Personally, I just find that D90s on a Cab don't inspire me at all, but when you've got a set of twists or Cup 1s on, that show off the big calipers and vented disks, I think it makes the car look so much more together.

The reg plate - I've always been aware of the slightly unconventional spacing But, in four years, we've never had any trouble. Plus, if its of concern to anyone, I'll happily whack some standard ones on. Having looked at the picture of the rear again, I see what you mean, a normal one would probably look a little less fussy.

Re: the cost of kids vs a Porsche. I hear what you're saying, but I'm quite confident I know what my partners response will be if I pitch it to her like that

Cheers James - I'll get measuring up. I might get chance to try the clutch on one nearer me for starters and we'll see where that does or doesn't lead me. Not sure I'd want one that doesn't look as good as yours though - especially after the blinding pull of my Cayman. No doubt they can be modified to give more power but perhaps at the expense of a stiffer clutch. Anyway, cheers mate!!!!!

If it's blinding pull you want AND wind in the hair you maybe should also look at a 944 Turbo Cab. I had a superb S2 Cab (32kmls) but upgraded to a Tweaked 944Turbo Coupe, better ride and far better pull
Don't forget if its that tight for getting in the garage you should be able to fold in the mirrors.

A Great pity you have to sell, mine had to go 6 years ago to enable me to get my current Turbo.
I had the S2 Cab up for sale (only 32k mile) for Months - July 06 onwards with ads through Tipec, PCGB, 911 & Porsche + Porsche GT, at shows etc. Some ridiculous (Low) offers over the phone without even viewing
Could be worth trying the "not so obvious" Porsche advertising opportunities :-
I decided to advertised mine on Autotrader in Dec 06 - Jan 07 a really bad time for an S2 Cab sale but surprisingly had more offers in those few weeks than the previous 5 months. Sold by phone/e-mail to a chap from London unseen (£8750), he sent a low loader to fetch it for his wife's Birthday present, so if you havn't tried Autotrader I would recommend trying it, you never know who may be after one. (might also be worth an ad on Gumtree! assuming you haven't tried).

Try £8,944 (the 944 might catch someones eye it did with mine!).
(Sorry can't manage 2x944's again, almost caused a Divorce and I still have a job hanging onto this Turbo)

It look stunning James and your description of the maintenance sounds like it's been very well looked after. My wife fell in love with the pics as soon as she saw them but alas we can't afford twe 944s again at the moment or I would bite your hand off.

Good luck with the sale, it certainly sounds like a cut above the rest of the dross out there. Don't give it away
