Hi all, I also have a 1988 Silver Rose project for sale. Car has been sitting for 4 years. A start was made on restoration about a year ago. I cut off the drivers side sill as this was rotten and also the back corner of the bottom of the arch needed attention. This was done properly back to the original sill mounts with the front wing removed. The car has sat ever since. It has done 188,000 miles but benefitted from a complete top end rebuild using genuine Porsche parts at 145,000 miles. This is all documented. The car has only had 3 owners from new, the last owner since 1996! The last 2 invoices total just over £5000 so you can see it has been well looked after. There is a 2 inch thick history file with the car detailing most work from new.
Work carried out on the car was a new clutch at 173,000, it also had new engine mounts at the same time as well as a sump gaskets, rear crank seal, as well as various other work, total was £2585! This was in 2001. All new fuel lines were fitted in 2000 using genuine Porsche parts, they are still in excellent condition now. The bill that time was £2701.00 fromm Charles Ivey.
The car requires to have a new sill attached and the rear quarter corner replaced which is a common 944 problem area. A genuine replacement porsche sill and new corner plate are included in the sale as well as 2 rear quarter patches all ready fabricated to replace the correded metal. A days work would see the metal work completed on the car. The nearside of the car only requires the back corner of the quarter repaired, there is considerably less corrosion there than on the other side. With the car being an S, this means it has no sunroof and also M030 front brakes and an LSD gearbox.
The interior of the car is in reasnoable condition but dirty and in need of a heavy clean. the seats had been changed out to another set of "Studio Cloth" type ones but they are in not very good condition. I have a complete burgundy interior including carpets, door cards, split rear seat, pretty much everything including a dashboard if my asking price is met.
There are no wheels with the car as the originals were sold. I have a set of Turbo D90s I could let go with the car if interested, these need refurbishment but have excellent tyres fitted.
The car is in running condition at present but all brake calipers have been removed for refurbishment due to sitting and having plate lift. All brake disks had been replacednot long before the car was laid up so are still in pretty much as new condition but would need to have the faces cleaned up on them before use. I can include a set of new rear pads in the sale. Both front wings are removed and would have to have the bottoms of the wings repaired although they are not in too bad a condition. The badge panel is also removed from the car, that will require refinishing as well.
The car starts and drives at the moment but will need a set of belts and probably tensioners.
An almost new airbox assembly is fitted to the car and it benefits from both undertrays being there as well.
I am looking for £3000 ONO for the car as I could break it for this. I would rather see it restored to the road than broken for parts as there are not many left and I am sure they will appreciate nicely in years to come. This is a very solid car for restoration and should make someone an easy project. Pictures are available on request and i can be contacted on 07515 899500. I will assist in transport any way I can. the car is located in Bonnybridge in Scotland.
I also have 2 S2 projects for sale as well. Both cheap to clear. one has 100,000 miles, the other is on 168,000. Both have had engine rebuilds with paperwork to prove and both need sills as per the norm!
