Hi all, I am selling my 1999 Carrera 4 project as I am finding I have no time to finish it at all and it is just taking up space in the garage. It is a 1999 C4 that I bought with a blown engine a year ago. It had done 130,000 miles and had benefitted from a gearbox rebuild as the garage I bought it from had thought that was what the problem with the car had been. The car had also benefitted from a new clutch and dual mass flywheel 15,000 miles beforehand. it had turned out that the owner had ran it low on oil due to a leaking RMS seal, this had caused the crank to over heat.
The engine was stripped and the crank was found to be scrap.
The bottom end of the car has been rebuilt with:
Freshly polished and balanced crankshaft with a repalcement crank carrier
New main bearings and thrust bearings and oil squirter jets
New big end bearings
New genuine Porsche con rods
New Wossner forged piston kits
Hartech modified IMS shaft with new bearing
Hartech modified block with the clamp rings on the top of the liners
All new timing chains and ramps, Variocam tensioners

The cylinder heads have been refurbished with a full set of new valves. A new set of INA hydraulic tappets is also included.
There is a full genuine Porsche gasket set included with all new bolts and head gaskets. Also new timing chain ramps, new AOS and crankcase oil separators, oil sump pickup, water pump, head studs, basically all the parts needed to rebuild the engine like new.
All parts are there to complete the engine, there are also a pair of new exhaust boxes included as the originals were rotten.
The crank, front pulley and clutch assembly were also dynamically balanced as well for smoother running.

I also have a new radiator and air con condensor for the front of the car as 1 of each either side were rotten and had not been replaced. I have all the new clips, etc and mouting brackets for these as the originals were rusty.

The car will require brake disks all round from sitting for so long. It has its original 17 inch 5 spoke Carrera 4 wheels that have been freshly refurbished. These are fitted with a matching set of Michelin Pilots with 7mm tread all round so nearly new!

I have receipts for over £6000 for all the engine parts alone, all parts were genuine Porsche apart from the Wossner pistons.
The engine bottom end of the car has been rebuilt with the pistons installed which is the hard bit as it is quite complicated to fit the last 3 pistons. The bottom end is ready to have the heads fitted to the car and the rest built up.
V5 of the car is in my name. It is silver with a grey leather interior. Front and back bumpers have been removed to be painted as they were both stone chipped. They are prepared for paint and can be painted if required.

All in all an easy project to complete and you will have an excellent engine that has been properly rebuilt when finished with all the 996 problem areas covered. As you will know, the engine is the weak part on these cars so why spend lots of money on one that you will know will eventually fail when you can buy my one with all the right mods done to it for piece of mind and a cheap price. Any reasonably competent mechainc will be able to finish it off as the hard part has been done. The special tools for the rebuold will be included in the sale. They are a brand new unused set that costs over £250!

I am looking for £8000 ONO for the project as it will cost you £6-7000 to buy a rebuilt engine. If you need an engine for your car, buy this and then break the rest of the car! I have pictures here of the car and engine as it is now that i can email on.

I am more than happy to assist with delivery. I have a van that the loose parts could be transorted in if you can get the shell moved.

I can be contacted by email at sulzeruk@yahoo.co.uk or on 07515 899 500.

Nick, here's the advert for the car on Pistonheads - I added for Alasdair as he doesn't have a PH account.

I'm sure Alasdair will be along shortly with more photos for you.
