For Sale Porsche 944 87 2.5 As I have been told that I cannot keep two Porsches now we have bought the Boxster I am putting the 944 up for sale. I have owned the car for 7 years & in the early days it was my daily driver doing 38K in 18 months. The car was bought with around 103K on the clock & now has 146,356 miles. These days the mileage has hugely reduced as it is a second car. From the last MOT in 2011 to today it has done under 600 miles. I’m quite happy to jump in it & drive it & we did 500miles for Laon last year with it. Including 3 laps of the town at a reasonable rate of knots. The Good Bits Updated to S2 bits, front PU, S2 suspension & brakes. D90s with Goodyear GSD3 F1 tyres. One tiny crack on the dash as it is kept covered when not in use. Drivers seat has hole in pinstripe cloth in base & the normal bolster wear, otherwise the interior is very good. Had 2 reconditioned Hartech wishbones 5 years ago. Recent new door links (see last months AT) & striker pins on the hatch with new rubbers. Newish HD battery. All new clutch hydraulics. EBC Green pads all round. Had new engine mounts & steering shaft when I first got it. I’ll put back in the stereo which is an MP3 disc, USB MMC card player. Recent JBL (I think) speakers in the front. Taxed until the end of Sept. (I think) Also recent clutch slave & master & hard pipe. The driveshafts were stripped & rebuilt a couple of years ago with a new CV joint. Bad Bits Just failed MOT on sills, these were extensively replaced in 2007 & although a decent job I think, extensive pics on (http://www.pbase.com/tr7v8). no rust protection inside hence the problem it has now. No other failure points though. Other advisory was:- pitted brake discs, I suspect this is lack of use & they’ll clean up with use. Overdue for cam & balance belt change. Uses oil when driven hard, normal road speeds uses very little. Paint a bit patchy as I was going to repaint it a more brilliant white, so when I repaired the hatch pin location I repainted across the back in the brighter colour. Rear wiper has broken its drive gear. Mountain of spares: complete set of Brembo 4 pot callipers need repaint & assembly, Stainless bolts to do this included. Pair of s/h S2 driveshafts. Spare panels; Bonnet, left & right doors, S2 badge panel, S2 front PU bumper. Hoses & other bits collected over the years. Subject to negotiation I have a complete cam & balance belt kit with idlers, tensioners, top hats & seals. This was £300 as a kit. I also have a set of tools to do the job with which I’ll loan. Lots of pics at www.pbase.com/tr7v8 But I'll post some here later. |

Well after some &^*&^*&!!!! bid it up on E Bay & then disappeared a nice man in Germany offered me cash for it. He's just sent a driver for it & it's loaded up & gone! ![]() ![]() ![]() It has served me well, done quite a few holidays in it, raced it around Gaydon 2 years running, was my daily driver for 18 months when I got it doing 38K in that time. I've had the AA out to it once, which was a puncture when the space saver wouldn't fit over the S2 brakes. Just done the maths it has cost me 40 pence per mile or 37 ppm if you exclude the improvements to it. Not bad for 43K miles in a Porsche. Just curious what he'll do with it, repair it, break it for spares? According to one of my German work colleagues 944s command bigger money in Germany than they do here. As do most other cars. PS Dropped a copy of All Torque into the documents, seemed rude not to ![]() |

I was on Ebay Germany looking for a water pump, assuming it would be a bit cheaper at the moment for a new one. The car prices are definatley higher generally, with the 944 cabs like mine a good 2-3 grand more in some cases. Always sad to see them broken though whatever condition they are in. |
