NOW SOLD

Never intended to sell this but the wife had other ideas. Can't get a baby seat in as well as my 2 year old daughter & the wife. B****er it. Don't buy this car! Sadly due to a growing family. My '44 will soon be for sale. Dam it. It's nearly finished. This was my daily drive until September.

Not a show car this is a great track day tool that can be used every day so long as you don't ask it to do short journeys. 35mpg not so bad on longer runs. Or suitable for anyone that wants there 944 to go as well as it looks & puts performance at the top of the list.

Full engine & gearbox rebuild. Minty body. Tidy if not perfect leather interior. New shocks/wheel bearings/discs/brake pipes/Goodrich flexi's/steering shaft/radiator/rebuilt starter motor/fuel lines/stainless exhaust/fuel rail/pressure reg/damper/clutch slave/brake master cylinder/plug leads/dizzy/coil/I could go on & on. Very little original under the bonnet. Only the steering rack not yet done but it's in pretty good shape. Glass out repaint. New screen, Live mapped by Wayne Scholfield
Will come with 12 months ticket. (Drive in drive out job.)

1987 944. 2.5 8v Fully rebuilt short engine. FSH Fresh tuned head. water pump, Thermostat, belts & rollers & seals Oct. Turbo clutch just fitted. Turbo cometic gaskets.
Gambia Red
Linen Leather
£3900 May seem a lot for a lux but this one has more go than it had when it was new! More than some S2's Find another in this condition! Over 10K spent.
An exceptional 944 with no nasty surprises! Not perfect but what 24 year old car is? There will always be something to do! Should still be running in 20 years time though unlike most of these.
Currently on the road taxed & tested.
Pm me to book a viewing. Now wheres the whiskey......

Hopefully this will help - it's not the end of the world, there is hope.

This happened to me. I went out in November 1998 and test drove a three year old Toyota MR2. It was very nice and about £10000. I left the Toyota dealership, drove round the corner to go home, and there was a 1989 Guards Red 944 2.7 Lux (F856 FFC) - also about £10000. When the erection had subsided and I could get out of my car I went and asked for a test drive.

Immaculate car, one doctor owner, full OPC history, it was a no-brainer. I bought it as a treat to me for my 40th birthday, which was the next month and was as good an excuse as any  .

Six weeks after buying the car my kids moved in with me  (alcoholic mother who subsequently died age 44 - the same thing that killed Gerry Rafferty). I coped for as long as possible doing the school runs etc, but eventually in February 2000 a man from Leicester bought it and I had a tear in my eye as he drove off in my Porsche with his own erection. I bought a Peugeot 406 saloon because 'it'll do' :( .

One day, in October 2005, Stefany was washing her BMW Z3 and said to me "I bet you wish you had a nice car to wash... why don't you go and get yourself another Porsche". What a woman! I started looking around and in November 2005 I bought the S2 I have now after seeing it on Used Car Roadshow :D .

So you see JJ, you think it's the end of the world right now, but one day your wife will say to you "Why don't you go and get yourself another Porsche" - and you'll feel exactly the same as you did when you bought the one you have now - I know I did... and still do..... and I still get the erections despite my age

In the meantime you could buy my BMW - that's got to be big enough for your wife and kids... and your neighbours wife and her kids at the same time... it's huge!

I know but I will never use it. I don't have a garage & out of regular use it will deteriorate. If I had a garage I would keep it but thats a downside to living in a flat. Petrol is hitting £1.30 a litre so even if I could manage the first 9 months until a baby seat will fit. It's not really on as a daily drive. Would be challenging for space as well. Will keep the shed for now. Then maybe buy a real car later. Without time to mess with it, it becomes a bit pointless. :(
Thanks guys.

No interest so far. :bounce: Do you think the adverts crap enough or do I need to raise the price to make sure. Seriously do you think it's overpriced? I spent 2K in parts in the last 6 months. Was just going all out to finish it. :blackeye:

Unfortunately what one spends on a car does not always get recouped in the ensuing sale. For example I have spent £700 having a new clutch fitted 2000 miles ago, but I cannot then ask for £700 over and above the going rate.

Again, unfortunately, the opposite does apply. If I hadn't had the clutch replaced and was trying to sell the car somebody would knock me down to allow for that expense.

Have you done your maths JJ? If you don't need the money from the sale of the car and the main problem is storage, have you considered looking around to see if you can find somebody's garage or lock up to put it in, or asked a farmer if there's room in the corner of a barn (a lad I know bought a 944 for £50 that he found in a barn near here!) and get a £500 Golf or something to use as a family car. It is unlikely that you will find a car as good as yours for the money you let it go for..... you'll regret selling it.

I have just put mine back on the road today and have just taken the wife out to eat at the next village pub. Felt great driving it again, and it looked great all shiny outside the front door of the pub.

No I don't think it's over priced, and looked after 944 should not be brought down 2 the same level off low priced cars that are low priced because people can't justif the costs it need 2 maintain it. Look at turbo prices they range from 3000/9000 that's a big difference and s2 range from 3000/6000. There's not a lot off intersted due 2 the title and placement off the sale, we all
Know u don't want 2 let it go. Maybe mention the sale off ur own car in the reposon off helping protential buyers. It will be sold at a lose even at £4000.

Its a difficult decision I thought about selling my S2 cab mine for 12 mths before eventually selling it to a dealer in classic cars who gave me a reasonable deal and then sold it for 7K but It just wasn't getting used and not garaged was deteriating. Still got me Harley though.

If no ones interested by Easter I will have to do similar. They will be asking double for it! If I had a garage I would keep it but leaving it unused outside will not do it any good. These cars like to be in regular use & love long runs.

I wouldn't say that's a dear car at all JJ.

You sound realistic enough to realise it's not going to sell overnight, just need a realistic buyer that's done their research enough to know a cheaper one will easily owe them the same money after 12-18 months with the added hassle of the car being off the road sorting or preventing problems.

I'm proper hooked on these now having to put an S2 on hold till I've moved in the spring but your's is one car that could sway me away from an S2. So for all you potential buyers out there with tunnel vision on colour combinations and model do as JJ say's buy on condition not on model, go take at look at this one I doubt very much you'll be going home without the car if you're serious about owning a good one of these.

Sorry that you are selling it as its a beautiful thing. I was wondering about your fuel lines, I like the look of them. How much were they and where from? As soon as the better weather comes in it should be easier to sell if you really want to.
