OK, let's kill this one then. The Cabriolet is sold and so I'm going to focus on this one now...

It's back from the bodyshop and other than it being *absolutely* filthy at the moment I am very pleased with the metalwork. The body is now rust-free and the only fly in the ointment is that the original paint has faded since 1984 and so the newly laid on Pastel Beige is a touch brighter and more yellow than the original. It's inevitable now that it's going to get a full repaint.

It's not been flatted and mopped yet though so I'm hoping that a full machine polish once we finish the wings, sills and rear panel will soften the difference in colour.

And there you have it... it's a keeper and other than the fresh metal I've a few other things to sort in the next few weeks, such as giving it a major all-fluids service, working through my to-do list a little more and replacing all of the front lights (am currently evaluating whether to selectively amber-tint for a bit of a continental feel) and indicators, fitting the Fuchs and the Dansk system, renewing the plugs, leads, distributor cap and rotor arm... it all goes on and on... and then there's the Beetle to get back on the road... cars, eh?
