In true Brit style I'd like to start with a moan!! IT WAS TOO HOT!!

Other than that what a first class weekend at classic Le Mans and this post is simply to say thanks to Paul Bird for his efforts in getting us all there. The organisation and booking before the show, keeping us all up to date with the plan of action, getting us all to the right terminal at the right time on the right day and being available throughout the weekend to help out whenever needed (like when someone runs out of camping gas!! Thanks PB - I owe you a pint!)

Paul - you are a top bloke and a mint RO. Thanks for all you do bud the Central Region do appreciate it

Right - better go detail the car then............

Glad you had a great time, it was bloody hot and dusty in 2008.

Just got back ourselves. Yup bloody hot Thursday night was impossible, I now know how lobsters feel! The TD staff reckoned it was 41Deg C during the day. It was around 36 Deg C when we got the tent & gazebo up
Saturday I got 3 hours of sleep went to sleep at 02:30 & woke up at 05:45 & went to watch the racing again. I have 100's of pics which I need to process,
Highlights of the whole thing, watching one of the D-Types drift through tetra rouge on a very consistent line, also wandering into the pit lane & taking pics there.

Fantastic trip - wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Yes the temp was unreal - I saw an official report that temp on Mulsanne straight sat pm reached 48 deg in shade.

Only shame was there's too much to do/see in the time, especially when you have to ration time in sun/walking in the heat (I was very conscious of having 10 year old son with me, but he was a fantastic event companion with never a word of complaint despite being dragged everywhere by Dad!).

Highlights for me were the paddock where number of historic/important cars has spoilt me for Silverstone Classic by comparison. Surreal to be blase about seeing the world's most valuable car - the Moss/Jenkinson Merc SLR Mille Miglia winner - rolling past in arms reach. Wondering amongst cars as they queued top enter circuit also extraordinary, and this is before seeing any actual racing! Noise and sight of 917s at full chat unforgettable. The chilled rose at shady bar in medieval heart of Le Mans on sunday was another highlight of different kind.

With more time/less heat would have loved to see all the club displays. Saw quite a few on friday eve but most cars yet to arrive at that time. Nice to see Porsche Club France had largest area (vast). Not so nice that every tom, dick and rear-engined 911/356 had it's own named display line by model, but that the very few 928/944/924s were grouped sadly at the edge in area marked as "914/Moteur avant". Hmm. Lower down the bill than a car which in 4 cyl form at least wasn't even sold as a Porsche in Europe!

Was fun and a pleasure to share campsite with all friends from TIPEC. Thanks all for making it such a great weekend.

What a fantastic event and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. My son Richard & I hadn't been before and thanks to Paul Bird for encouraging us to attend.

One of the best trips we've had - the cars (both static displays & racing) were beyond belief and the highlights for us were viewing the race cars in the paddocks, talking to the drivers and mechanics, getting close-up to the activity in the pit lane seeing the driver change over etc... and best of all seeing the 'running start' for the 1920-30's cars - all breathtaking and excellent.

This is one event not to be missed and thanks to all TIPEC friends for making the trip so enjoyable :D

Big thank you to Paul Bird & Travel Destinations for their excellent organising skills, which made the trip so totally stress free and relaxed.

Roll-on 2012!!!! :)

My first trip too, and I even enjoyed "roughing it" in a tent.

The loos/showers were exceptionally clean throughout, the weather was fab, the diving in France was stress-free, and the racing.............well !!
The paddocks were just porn on wheels, and Lez even managed to get a sit in the DB6!! How cool is that! The drivers/mechanics were friendly too.

Thanks too to Paul for all your hard work (you're so modest - it wouldn't have happened without you).
Thanks to the guys for a memorable time, and to the other campers for being so friendly.

This is an event in my calendar in 2012. Let's hope the weather's as nice then.

Fabulous!

Was with Jim H and his assistant RO Paul.
Seeing Jim in his undies with Paul sleeping at his feet was very disturbing :? , but didn't distract from the event.

Another memorable moment was the Scot in his kilt wandering about the site playing bagpipes, being chased away by the Boogie Woogie Bugle boy from Company B.

Nig kindly gave my son and his friend a ride around the circuit in his 996 and the quote of the weekend when he said on the run back in "Right lads, we all need a beer!"

Great weekend and I will be going back in 2012.

We don't want to see any from inside the tent, strictly automotive porn only. Not you and Paul in your under crackers :D
