I have been offered the opportunity to put on a Club Display at this Sold Out event.

The cost is £30 a day for car and 2 adults. Cars have to be on our pitch by 8am until 6pm.

We have seven spaces for both Saturday and Sunday.

We need to sell all the spaces to make this happen

I'd tell them to eff-off Sean.

They're greedy people at Cholmondley..... they need a display for paying punters to look at, but want to charge £30 a car to owners willing to bail them out with cars to display. They wouldn't be able to put on a show without all the enthusiasts 'lending' their cars. It's not just this show they're doing it with, it's all their shows.

We've got four 2-day tickets for Car-Fest. They cost a lot of money - there'd better be some cars there to see when we turn up.

I hope nobody is stupid enough to pay the £30.

This is an interesting and important debate John.

I'm with you on organisers charging a lot for people who are providing the attraction in the first place! I think it's OK when a modest charge of a few quid gets you and everyone in the car into a venue you'd pay a lot more for as a non-exhibitor, and is a pleasant place to spend the day. A lot of the Transtar shows which we support fall into this category. A few quid for whole family to spend day at Trentham is fine value. It's worth spending more on events in especially nice settings like Prescott, where entry also includes the brilliant Bugatti museum.

But what I don't get is that you hope no one is daft enough to pay £30 (it seems a lot, even if not for Mr Evans), but then earnestly hope you will see some cars! Are you saying that the organisers need to get loads of cars in irrespective of whether owners choose to display or not?

Hi All :)

I have seen both ends of this debate....

My 928 with Nitrous get invited to some of the big shows (Beaulieu. Wilton House Supercar show) etc etc....

For those shows to which I am INVITED as I seem to be on a "Supercar" list.... generally there is either no cost to me or a token £5 or £10 which ALWAYS goes to a charity, NEVER the show organiser...

Some of the smaller shows (Classic car shows) sometimes the organisers ask for generally around £10 which does go to them, but as its not a great deal of money I pay...

£30.... no way , UNLESS it goes to charity.... and most of the other guys with Lambos, Ferraris feel the same ....

All the best Brett :)

I am not going to try and justify the event, it is a lot more than just a car show.

The cost of a day ticket was £60 a day or £85 for a weekend. That is to park in the field with the good and the great. They have all sold out.

How much do you pay to go to a concert these days?

Cars and music for £15 sounds like good value to me. :)

£120 will go to Children in Need from the sale of the 14 sets of tickets.

I think it's a good opportunity for the club to have a display and have a good time/some fun, it takes a lot of effort from many different people to arrange such an event and to be invited free of charge is a bit presumptuous right? Maybe if we are good sports and put on a good show..what what..we might be invited back next year for free? who knows but I would love to buy a ticket for one of the days if I may? my car will be hopefully back on the road by then and looking spiffing. 8)

Oh yes and btw, I am intending to join the club soon... :?

No mention about ankle biters, I will ask.

I suspect you'll need to buy 2 sets of tickets.

I have received a note today with the same offer for the South Car Fest event on 25th 26th August.

As with the North we need to sell all the tickets.

Anyone?
