with over a thousand TIPEC members, it's difficult to explain this apathy towards track days. We own performance sports cars that cannot be exercised fully and legally on the public highways. This event is a rare opportunity to safely explore the limits of our vehicles. Paul, I for one, will be very sad if this is scrapped from the national club's event calendar

So will I but at the end of the day you cannot make this sort of thing without support from members. When we did the track event for the 20th anniversary we had best part of 30 cars and afterwards we had lots of comments from people saying they wished they had attended. On that basis I thought we could get 40-45 cars on track this time but we have around the 30 mark again.
Whilst club funds are not at risk this time I am very conscious that the company handling bookings
Could take a financial hit on the event and I honestly didn't think this would happen. If they do lose money I will personally be very embarrassed but as a club we will lose all credibility for similar events in future and I will not enter into future negotiations on this basis. That means we will not try this again and I will simply stick to organising my local region sprint day each year.
We have a long weekend for members to ponder over the event and hopefully book another 10 slots to get us over the line. I do understand it's a long way for some - it is 2-3 hours drive for me - but as a track it is much more forgiving than many and so ideally suited to first timers on track.
My plan was to pick a new track each year so perhaps Mallory or Bedford in 2016 to be more central but unless we succeed at Blyton it simply won't happen. This one has become make or break for me.
All the negative stuff out of the way I am really looking forward to it and I know we'll have a great day. I just wish the rest realised what they will be missing. See you there
