I'd tell them to eff-off Sean.
They're greedy people at Cholmondley..... they need a display for paying punters to look at, but want to charge £30 a car to owners willing to bail them out with cars to display. They wouldn't be able to put on a show without all the enthusiasts 'lending' their cars. It's not just this show they're doing it with, it's all their shows.
We've got four 2-day tickets for Car-Fest. They cost a lot of money - there'd better be some cars there to see when we turn up.
I hope nobody is stupid enough to pay the £30.
This is an interesting and important debate John.
I'm with you on organisers charging a lot for people who are providing the attraction in the first place! I think it's OK when a modest charge of a few quid gets you and everyone in the car into a venue you'd pay a lot more for as a non-exhibitor, and is a pleasant place to spend the day. A lot of the Transtar shows which we support fall into this category. A few quid for whole family to spend day at Trentham is fine value. It's worth spending more on events in especially nice settings like Prescott, where entry also includes the brilliant Bugatti museum.
But what I don't get is that you hope no one is daft enough to pay £30 (it seems a lot, even if not for Mr Evans), but then earnestly hope you will see some cars! Are you saying that the organisers need to get loads of cars in irrespective of whether owners choose to display or not?
