Just a quick update to everyone. This month has been a traumatic month - after a brilliant TIPEC track day at Curborough which I shared with one of my customers in his turbo'd Audi S2 and my 928 S4. We enjoyed over 26 laps in both cars and had an amazing time even though it was raining. Unfortunately after lunch and another mad rain storm the 27th lap proved disastrous - all 4 wheels locked and I slid off the track into an embankment - why do they put those there....and why should I find the only on on the track!

You can see a photo of the "Track-Off" here:-
http://cid-70d4844dc8c361fd.photos.live ... G00144.jpg

The car still drove and after having a helping hand off the embankment I drove it back round the track and then 26 miles home without any hitches.

After several phone calls and discussions about finding a jig and getting it straightened again - without the help of insurance of course - I trailer'd it down to Paul Anderson for the professional verdict. He was initially positive about resurrecting it and getting her straight, but after some more investigation it seemed that she was too far gone for economic salvage & restoration. So with a lot of Help from Paul he was able to find me a replacement 928 S4 and we did a deal. So I am now back in 928 ownership after 4 weeks.

Have to say Paul Anderson is a great guy and without his help I wouldn't be back behind a 928 so quickly - can't thank the guy enough for his help & dedication to 928 owners!

I picked my new 1988 Black Auto 928 S4 up last week and already Paul told me that my S4 engine was helping a GTS owner as a temp loan whilst his GTS engine is out looking to be repaired - so my old girl lives on in spirit - anyone on the list???

Here are some photo's of my new Black 928 S4 if you are interested.

Thanks again to Paul Anderson for all his help and consideration!

Steve

HI Brett

Thanks for your comments. Believe it or not, the bonnet release even worked with it bent like that. Unlocked first time and could latch down again & lock - Amazing!

Thanks Lee.
Yes, I agree my Stone Grey Metallic one was certaily eye-catching, well in my mind anyway. I do miss it!
However, the new Black one looks good from a distance - has a few dinks & dents when you get up close and the paintwork needs some radical cutting and polishing. The bonnet is very bad now I have cleaned it. All the paintwork has lots of split/cracks all over it where I think a previous paint job has been put on too thick and the paint has split open....or a similar effect.

I am going to try to give it a cutting paste & buffing wheel to get the paint heated up to see if that makes it look any better. Otherwise I will haev to give the bonnet a re-spray.

Steve

That private reg' could be good for someone in your family if you can get the initials to match up? I made the mistake of stripping mine for a few weeks, you do miss it when you can't just pop out for a run.

Hi Lee

The Private Reg initials are close to my Sons and I drive an Audi A6 for a worker. But think I will offer it on ebay or to the many reg companies and search for a 928 specific plate. Have seen a few around starting @ £600

Its good to be back in Porker 928 ownership. Got a list of work to do - as you can imagine but nothing too major.
Hope to see you at the Xmas dinner

She looks a good 'un Steve - wish you many happy miles in her.

Excellent pic showing the vacuum reservoir inside the n/s wing (removed) on the bent one!

Thanks Adrian

I was wondering at first what the Black Baubles/Plastic moulding was underneath the wing - then checked the WSM and saw it was the Vacuum Reservoir. Sort of gave it away with a vac line going into it. :bounce:

Looking to get my LED sidelights conversion done hopefully this weekend ready for the Merry Miller Meet next weekend. Also got an oil leak on the Rt side oil cooler @ the bottom fitting. Just got some big openend spanners today to get it tightened if possible - without ripping out the insert from the radiator of course. Will see how it goes and if it stops the leak?

See you next weekend @ the Merry Miller.

Steve
