I looked at this one for the 944, don't know if can take the V8 or not? In the end I didn't buy one, but did buy the engine hoist. http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ces-750a-engine-stand/path/workshop-cranes-engine-stands |

Asked a friend what one he used for his V8 and said the one at the bottom of this page, http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8075 Which one? You decide. ![]() |

Mine is a Clarkes one, been used for a couple of engines including a Woover v8 & been fine. Flog it on E bay after. |

![]() I was going to fit a Shark Vent to cure the problem of embarassing puffs of smoke when you come back on the throttle from the over run but whilst that may or may not cure the symptom I'm told I'm best off to eradicate the cause. A letter to a PO from Porsche informed him that 1.5 litres of oil per 1000km was within tolerance but that sounds excessive to me. Does anybody know if the excess fumes from the crankcase are pushed back just through one bank of cylinders or both? ![]() |

Does sound like a lot of oil. Have you ever measured how much oil you actually use? Don't know anything about the excess fumes, but looking at an exploded diagram on the engine I think it will go to both banks. This is a guess from a novice though, so don't stand buy it. If you want I can send you the part numbers for the gaskets and hoses I bought to remove the inlet manifold and cam covers. |
