The a/c and central locking panel has plugs to rear so with these removed it should be easy to remove. Ditto the heater control head which has an edge connector and multipin connector on left side. With these removed it will just fall out - there is lots of space. Did you remove the H shaped plastic trim which covers the 6 philips head screws and remove all of these? Did you remove the A/C switch panel before removing heater control? All should disasseble very easily so you're doing something wrong. The only tight fit in centre console is stereo head unit as not much room for all the wires unless you still use original DIN connectors. Adrian |

Lee, basically my air con went west and Richard supplied me with a recon unit which also went west after only being run twice, not sure why but the clutch and coil were both toast. In doing this it also took out the relay in the heater panel so this was removed and sent back to Richard with the compressor to have the relay replaced with an upgraded one. Adrian, I removed the H shaped trim and took out the six screws and somehow managed to squeeze the heater control panel out but now, without really forcing it, it doesn't want to go back in. The wiring to the central locking switch appears to be hard wired/soldered into the back of that small panel and there's insufficient wire there for me to move this out of the way, even if I disconnect the blue plug on the back of the A/C switch. The stereo is non original so I doubt the connectors are original, I'm loathed to take the stereo out but when you say there is loads of room do you have to remove the stereo to get this? ![]() |

From the pictures in All Torque, Adrian has the stereo out. |

Lee is correct and I'd forgotten to say it's always best to remove stereo to give you more hand room. There are no hard wired connectors to aircon panel. There would never be any reason to hard wire these connections and it would be quite a challenge to do this! With stereo out and screws removed though the a/c panel will just flap around on any wires/plugs to it - no need to disconnect. Your stereo will just unplug, maybe just a single block connector.
