Lucky that is to have spares so easy to obtain for the 928, and relatively cheaply.

Since I sold my 928 last month and bought a Ferrari Mondial, I've realised just how good I had it as a 928 owner. Ferrari spares are a nightmare. Ebay? You can pretty much forget it for Ferrari spares....Breakers? Well, they only made 45 of my particular car so how often do they get broken? Never, that's how often.

Should the cam belt snap on a Mondial 3.4t you're looking at £6,000+ and it (the belt) has to be replaced every 3 years, requiring the ENGINE to come out.

Lovely car though, I have to say it.

Hi :)

Years ago I had a Mondial Quattrovalvole ..The 3.2...and yes spares were a pig to get and working on that engine is not funny, even changing the dizzy caps is a pig.

Went well though, I always thought of it like a giant go-kart lol...low and hard :)

All the best Brett :)

:) If your going to play in the 'Big Boy's' league then you have to take the consequences, the two serious contenders before I bought my GTS were a Ferrari 412i or a 70's Aston Martin V8. It's unusual for my head to rule my heart but as an occasional car I could not justify the long term running costs of either. It would be interesting to see if you can drive the Ferrari in the same manner in which I drive my GTS on as regular a basis and it hangs together as well? Maybe it's an urban myth that Ferrari's of that vintage are fragile, only time will tell, far prettier than the Porker and sounded lovely when revved hard, let us know how you get on. :)

I'll post updates on how I get on with the car from time to time. Will be interesting to see how I get on with it, compared to a 928.
It's 20 years old and has only done 24,000 miles, 2,000 since 1997. It needs using! Some of the £1500+ cam belt services have been done with only a few hundred miles covered since the previous one.
