 Post subject: help with switch

Could anyone tell me what seems to be a switch mounted on the strut brace is for on an '81 s (s2's the same).It seems to be connected to the breather/vacume pipes on the top of the engine at the front with two wires attached,it is disconnected on mine,wise is just hanging!would like to know what its for before reconnecting,kind regards GN

It's a valve associated with the auto transmission, to drop idle speed slightly when putting car into D or R, to reduce the "clunk"
