Post subject:  Any owners in Brum-Im thinkin bout gettin a 928

Hi all,
ive been toying with the idea of getting a 928, preferebly an S4 in a few months.
I started my porsche ownership a few years ago with a Boxster and last year i put an old 944 lux back to its former glory which i currently still own and drive but ive always hankered after a 928. My plan is to either sell my 944 and put some money to it or do a part ex around september time.
Had plenty of people try and put me off with horror stories but the desire is still there.
Done some research and reading up but was wondering if there are any owners on here in Brum that would have the time to show me around their car and what makes a good car and also what makes a bad car as i would appreciate some knowledgable owner giving me info rather than the average armchair pundit who thinks they know it all.
Any help is appreciated.
Shaun

Hi Shaun,

There are a number of 928 owners - me included - in the Central region of the TIPEC club which is very active.

Why don't you come along to the next club meet? Will be light till late so plenty of time to look at 928s in the car park and chat with owners. Details are all in the Central sub-section of this forum, but next meet is 7.30pm Mon 10th May at the Red Lion, Lady Lane, Earlswood. Apologies if you've already been along and I've forgotten, but I don't remember seeing your early 944 at recent meets.

Meantime if you haven't already bought it - you could get hold of David Hemmings' 928 buyer's guide which should be available from Amazon as well as a number of motoring bookshops. There are several for sale right now on eBay. I've run 928s for 4 years and David's book is an excellent concise guide to the main things to look out for. It will also give you a detailed checklist of things to look out for which is more methodical than just chatting to owners, though of course that's valuable in itself.

Check Rennlist too for the "sticky" section at top of 928 section of 928 FAQs which is intended for new/prospective owners, and the guide to buying on 928.org.uk of course. Presumably you have joined that mailing list and are monitoring it? It's very active with up to a couple of dozen posts some days.

LIke Adrian has maentioned. There are a good number of 928's around the Brum area and a good number go to the central region monthly Monday meets at the Red Lion. Any or all of us will gladly show you round ouur cars and dispel any myths about ownership.

The 928's are addicitve to own and even more addictive to drive!

Hi

The important thing is to turn up to club night and take it from there

I know of 7 people in Central Region who own 928's

What's wrong with a 944!

The Regional Officer owns a 928 and a 944

See you at the Red Lion
